Sammy Eubanks :: SUGAR ME
An icon of the Northwest music scene, Sammy Eubanks took his vaunted silver pipes and scorching guitar chops to Nashville, TN to record his fifth album, Sugar Me. What he calls his dream album, Sugar Me features three original works and seven covers that are brilliantly re-arranged. There he teamed up with fellow North Westerners, Tim and Nancy Langford, owners of Underworld Records, and formed a music-city studio band affectionately known as “The Club Roar Players” - Matt Hauer, Darren Theriault, Chris Kimmerer, Bob Britt and the legendary SRV keyboardist Reese Wynans.

Sugar Me opens with a southern-fried blues rock track that lays out Sammy’s life story and musical philosophy by boldly declaring it’s “All Blues To Me.” The party kicks in with a sizzling take on the Skeeter Brandon & Highway 61 tune, “Stop That Grinnin’.” ...More details about this release here

Chase Walker Band :: NOT QUITE LEGAL
Not Quite Legal is the Chase Walker Band’s sophomore album featuring eleven originals (one hidden) by the band and two covers, one of which is the classic “Red House” by Jimi Hendrix originally recorded in 1966. The album's strong lyrical storytelling is reminiscent of folk songs from the 60's with guitar driven blues rock reminiscent of Led Zeppelin or The Black Crowes.

This is a story about what a kid and a guitar can accomplish in a few short years. Born in August, 1998, Chase Walker started playing guitar in 2010. By the summer of 2011, Chase had won a custom Fender Stratocaster and received a scholarship to attend Blues Kids of America Chicago where Jay Shefsky of WTTW Chicago Tonight said of his performance “this 12 year old from California already sounds right at home on stage at Buddy Guy's Legends.“ ...More details about this release here

New in ISC 2016
This year ISC has added a new category called "'Unpublished." We all know how important publishing is to an artist - it is one of the major sources of revenue, but it is so difficult to get your music heard by publishing companies. So, ISC is taking steps to open the doors for you by having established, high-profile publishers as judges for this category only.

Deep Blues Festival Oct 13-Oct 16 in Clarksdale
(Clarksdale, MS) - Looking for a weekend away? Come to the Deep Blues Festival Oct 13-16, an alternative blues festival in Clarksdale, Mississippi! The fest centers around the music and musicians inspired by the North Mississippi sounds and styles.

In 2007, Chris Johnson created the Deep Blues Festival to celebrate the outsider and alternative blues and blues influenced music that he felt deserved more attention. He established connections with hundreds of bands from around the world while making a name for the Deep Blues Festival on the international circuit. Fans have traveled from across the country and from around the world to support and attend the festival. This event started near the twin cities (Minneapolis-St. Paul) with a 1-day event showcasing 18 bands. Every year, the event has evolved, and in 2014 the festival moved south to Clarksdale, MS.

Blue & Lonesome, the Stones upcoming album, will feature their fave Blues Jams
The British Rock and Roll superstars announced that they will be releasing their first studio record in over a decade early this December. The album, titled Blue & Lonesome, will feature 12 tracks, all of which will be covers of the group's most favorite blues jams and feature the works of blues musicians such as Little Walter, and Howlin’ Wolf. Most of the songs are from the deep, dark archives of blues music and are not necessarily the most known of blues grooves.

One of the twelve songs covered by the band will be “I Can’t Quit You Baby” which was originally written by Willie Dixon and featured the stellar guitar stylings of Otis Rush. Preceding The Stones, Led Zeppelin covered this groove-inducing track in 1969, which arguably became one of Zeppelin’s best blues covers. ...Read more about the Stones bluesy album

Photo by Michele Lundeen
Chuck Berry has a birthday on October 18th. Not sweet little sixteen. Ninety years old. His long and fulfilling life includes giving the world a lot of classic songs, most of them still being played by bands, or sung in bars, or danced to at parties today. He combined blues, country, and soul to make the Chuck Berry sound, which was, as we all know, the very essence of rock and roll. A birthday conversation with the great
