Chris "Blue" Gill :: SONGS FOR THE SOLES
Songs For The Soles is a collection of blues from three albums and various recording sessions. Most of the songs have been on a previous collection, but I wanted to present some songs in a different set here! This collection has some acoustic blues, slide guitar, and songs with a full band with some of my favorite musicians!! You can catch sweet guitar tones, honky tonk piano, funky rhythms, fine Mississippi saxophone and all kinds of other good-feelin’ blues sounds!

My love of the blues has touched my life in many ways and has helped me through all kinds of rough situations, as I am sure it has for you. I will do my part to keep the blues going… I know you will do that too.

My "Song For Honeyboy," was written about Honeyboy Edwards. I read his book, The World Don't Owe Me Nothing, and felt a song brewing in my mind.

Finding the Blues at Gator By the Bay May 11-14
By Wendy Lemlin
(San Diego, CA) - You might think that Gator By the Bay, San Diego’s largest good times music festival, is all about Cajun and Zydeco music, but you would only be partially right. Sure, there is plenty of top notch straight-from-Louisiana bayou music, but in recent years, the 16-year-old festival has grown to also showcase legendary Blues artists, along with rockabilly, roots, salsa and Latin music. In fact, the official name of the event is now Gator By the Bay Zydeco, Blues, and Crawfish Festival. Of the 100+ musical performances happening on seven stages throughout the May 11-14 festival, at least 30 fall squarely in the Blues category, with a number of others mixing the Blues in with other genres.

The festival will kick-off with a concert headlined by Grammy nominated boogie-woogie blues singer and pianist, Marcia Ball, on Thursday, May 11. Texas-born and Louisiana-raised, Ball ignites a full-scale roadhouse rhythm and blues party every time she strolls on stage.

Pre-order John Németh’s new album Feelin’ Freaky and get free title track now plus find him on Tour
Feelin’ Freaky is being released worldwide on May 19, 2017 on John's own Memphis Grease Records label. Click album image here to Pre-Order and receive the title track now!

John Németh had already established himself among the very top ranks of blues musicians and modern soul singers when he decided to break the mold with his new record, Feelin’ Freaky. Drawing from his strong influences in blues and R&B, as well as contemporary sounds in hip hop and rock & roll, Németh fearlessly crushes all barriers of style and genre with an album of original songs that defies all the usual pigeonholes. John’s songs are groove and melody-driven, laced with thoughtful lyrics and nuanced humor, and cover themes from social issues of gun violence and class values to the pure hedonistic joy of dancing, sexuality and marijuana. For this album John brought his new songs to his great touring band, the Blue Dreamers...

5th Annual Pinetop Boogie and Crawfish Boil Fundraiser Blues Jam & Concert May 13th in Clarksdale
(Clarksdale, MS) - The Fifth Annual Pinetop Boogie and Crawfish Boil will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Ground Zero Blues Club, adjacent to the Delta Blues Museum, in downtown Clarksdale, MS. Tickets are $15 at the door and all money raised at the event will benefit the Pinetop Perkins Foundation Scholarship Fund. The foundation’s mission is to provide support and encouragement to young musicians at the beginning of their career, as well as to bring comfort and safety to older musicians in the twilight of their career.

At last year’s event, $6,676 was raised for young musicians to attend the Pinetop Perkins Foundation master class workshop held every June at the Hopson Plantation. At the workshop, young musicians learn from award-winning musicians and master bluesmen like the workshop’s headmaster Bob Margolin, Victor Wainwright, Mitch Woods and John Del Torro Richardson, just to name a few. Thanks in large part to the people who donated, every young musician who wanted or needed a scholarship received one.

2017 IBC Band Finalist King Bee debut album The Beginning has something for everyone
With every King Bee performance, comes a strikingly potent and vigorous musical declaration of heart, passion and riotous soul through songs inspired by a deeply ingrained foundation of genuine southern blues. Renowned for their musicianship and high energy approach, their unique sound is an unadulterated fusion of soaring guitar, virtuous harp, powerful vocals and fat, heavy grooves.

Hailing from historic Montgomery Alabama, the birthplace of civil rights and hometown to the likes of Big Mama Thornton, Nat King Cole and Hank Williams, King Bee has a story to tell, a musical message to convey to their audiences by serving as a living testimony to the fact that the blues is alive and thriving… now more than ever! However, King Bee is not just another blues band. Their music often crosses multiple genres and into the realms of jazz, funk, psychedelic and rock.
