Trudy Lynn :: I'LL SING THE BLUES FOR YOU
I’ll Sing the Blues for You (Connor Ray Music) from acclaimed Houston-based blues singer Trudy Lynn, features 10 tracks dripping with blues, soul and R&B, and includes her unique takes on songs from Big Mama Thornton, Lowell Fulsom, Memphis Minnie and Johnny Copeland, among others, as well as the funky original, “Thru Chasin’ You,” destined to be a fan favorite. Backing Trudy on the album are label president Steve Krase on harmonica, David Carter on guitar, Terry Dry on bass, Randy Wall on keyboards and Matt Johnson on drums.

“Choosing material for this album was quite an adventure,” says Trudy about I’ll Sing the Blues for You. “In my musical career, there are so many blues artists that I have been inspired by.”

In the new album’s liner notes, Trudy explains how its title came about. “As I’ve said in a previous recording of mine, ‘Everybody’s Got a Blues Song to Sing.’  ...Read more about this artist and release

This little town of African-American's, who migrated here from the deep south, was one of the proving grounds for many blues musicians. Russell City, an unincorporated area of Hayward, California is about 12 minutes from the City of Oakland. This community of modest houses and small farms along the bay is now gone. During it's heyday, Russell City was a down home, known for its clubs with dirt floors, bootleg electricity and a steady stream of musicians playing a unique style of Delta Blues.

(2nd) 7th Annual Daytona Blues Festival, Oct 6-8, 2017
(Daytona Beach, Florida) - When Hurricane Matthew took a turn and began heading directly toward Daytona Beach last October, the organizers of the Daytona Blues Festival had to make a hard call. In the interest of the safety of our guests, talent and volunteers, we had to cancel the festival. This cancellation was indeed necessary, as the area experienced sustained hurricane winds Friday, October 7 (the scheduled first day of the festival) which knocked out power, downed trees, and forced a mandatory evacuation of the beachside. On Saturday, October 8, the festivals venue, Jackie Robinson Ballpark, was under water with major damage and no power. And many of the beachside hotels used by our many out-of-town visitors did not reopen for months.

When the scheduled artists were contacted and told of the cancellation, almost all asked to be invited back for 2017.
