Sugar Ray & the Bluetones :: SEEING IS BELIEVING
Sugar Ray & the Bluetones’ Seeing Is Believing is the band’s seventh album for Severn Records and follows their highly-successful 2014 CD, Living Tear to Tear, which garnered them seven Blues Music Award nominations, including “Best Band,” plus individual nominations for Sugar Ray as “Traditional Male Blues Artist” and “Instrumentalist – Harmonica,” and a song nomination for “Things Could Be Worse.” At the most-recent Blues Music Awards in May, the group was again nominated for “Band of the Year,” as well as individual nominations for keyboardist Anthony Geraci, guitarist Monster Mike Welch and bassist Michael Mudcat Ward. Anthony Geraci’s album with The Boston Blues-All-Stars, Fifty Shades of Blue, received three additional nominations.

Produced by the band, the dozen tracks on Seeing Is Believing – 11 originals and a scintillating instrumental cover of B.B. King’s “You Know I Love You” – sweep out of the speakers with the power of a gale force wind, blowing with a transcendent groove.  ...Find more about this CD and the artist

Hector Anchondo :: ROLL THE DICE
Roll The Dice is everything you need in a modern blues record. Showcasing guitar, drums, harmonica, bass, vocals all wrapped together with great lyrical content.

Hector Anchondo doesn’t just play the blues—he lives and breathes the blues. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he was drawn to those artists who played Fender Stratocaster's like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton, but also respected the country greats such as Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Sr. His music reflects those influences, but with a definite modern twist.
Hector has performed with Styx, Johnny Winter, Magic Slim, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Indigenous, Big & Rich, Fishbone and many more. He’s appeared at South By Southwest and Red Gorilla in Austin, TX, the Warped Tour in Kansas City, MO...   ...Find more about this CD and the artist

Aug 26 Fabulous Thunderbirds featuring Kim Wilson, John Primer, Alexis Suter at Trinidaddio Blues Fest
(Trinidad, CO) - Returning to Central Park, the 2017 edition of Trinidaddio Blues Fest will host another world-class lineup. Headlining this year's show will be the Fabulous Thunderbirds. The T-Birds first appeared in the 1970s and despite numerous personnel changes over the years, they have maintained a top-shelf international profile and prolific musical output under the leadership of founder Kim Wilson. Not only did Kim establish himself early in his career as one of the top harmonica players in the world, but his playing. singing and writing have remained relevant and dynamic ever since, as evidenced by a steady stream of tours, collaborations, and recordings, and by his 2016 Blues Music Award as best harmonica instrumentalist.

Appearing just before the T-Birds will be two-time Grammy nominee and 2017 BMA nominee John Primer and The Real Deal Band, with special guest Ken Saydak. John was the guitar player in Muddy Waters' last band, and the time John spent with Muddy cemented his commitment to real Chicago blues...

Paramount Records Celebrates Milestone Birthday
Sept 1-3
Legendary label was launched in bucolic port Washington, Wisconsin 100 years ago

(Port Washington, WI) - A full century has passed since the Wisconsin Chair Company, located far from urban hustle and bustle in scenic Port Washington, Wisconsin, took the plunge into the fledgling music industry by launching Paramount Records—and the company’s vast recorded legacy continues to be celebrated. During its 15 years of operation, Paramount recorded a wealth of seminal blues, jazz, and gospel performances that are perpetually revered as landmarks of their respective genres. That history will be highlighted during the centennial edition of the three-day Paramount Music Festival, held September 1-3 at Coal Dock Park in Port Washington

The Wisconsin Chair Company was the largest employer in Port Washington at the time Paramount was established in 1917. The firm had begun manufacturing phonographs a couple of years earlier. At first, Paramount concentrated primarily on pop product and struggled to survive, but after the label purchased Black Swan Records and aimed its wares at the African American demographic during the early ‘20s, its fiscal fortunes took a distinct turn for the better.
