Rae Gordon Band :: BETTER THAN I WAS
After a head-turning third-place finish in February 2017 at the International Blues Challenge – their set at the finals in Memphis’ Orpheum Theater “had the audience up on their feet stomping and clapping with appreciation,” (Blues Blast Magazine) – the Rae Gordon Band knew expectations would be high for their next CD. The previous releases, Blue Lemonade (2013) and Dirty Flowers (2015), were well-received and picked up some awards, but Rae and her band felt there was now extra pressure to deliver something worthy of all the buzz they’d built in Memphis.

“Our seven-piece band has this huge impact in a live setting,” Rae says. “The horns, the heavy-grooving rhythm section, the gritty guitar tone – together they just pack a punch that people really respond to. I felt like the challenge was to make a record that would let people feel that impact.”

Trinidaddio Blues Fest, 8-26-17, Fabulous Thunderbirds featuring Kim Wilson, John Primer, Alexis Suter!
(Trinidad, CO) - Returning to Central Park, the 2017 edition of Trinidaddio Blues Fest will host another world-class lineup. Headlining this year's show will be the Fabulous Thunderbirds. The T-Birds first appeared in the 1970s and despite numerous personnel changes over the years, they have maintained a top-shelf international profile and prolific musical output under the leadership of founder Kim Wilson. Not only did Kim establish himself early in his career as one of the top harmonica players in the world, but his playing. singing and writing have remained relevant and dynamic ever since, as evidenced by a steady stream of tours, collaborations, and recordings, and by his 2016 Blues Music Award as best harmonica instrumentalist.

Appearing just before the T-Birds will be two-time Grammy nominee and 2017 BMA nominee John Primer and The Real Deal Band, with special guest Ken Saydak. John was the guitar player in Muddy Waters' last band...

Honeydrops Add Zest to Aimloan.Com San Diego Blues Festival, Sept. 9
(San Diego, CA) - Amid a lineup of otherworldly Mavis Staples, Blues Hall of Famer Joe Louis Walker and unpredictable Rick Estrin & the Nightcats, you will find the California Honeydrops at the seventh annual AimLoan.com San Diego Blues Festival on Sept. 9.

The Honeydrops don’t adhere to musical boundaries. They draw their own lines and then cross them whenever the mood strikes them. The result is music that can be mournful funk blues, or gliding and flowing R&B, or bouncy New Orleans second line, or a hybrid of various sounds handy at the moment.
They are, succinctly, the kind of act that opens eyes and ears at a music festival, the cool blend of surprise and tradition that refuses to be typecast.
The day-long festival is held on the picturesque downtown San Diego waterfront, a setting that traveling trombonist Randy Oxford has called “one of the most beautiful concert settings anywhere in the world.”

Russian River Jazz & Blues Festival Welcome World-Class Musicians Sept. 9 & 10

Tas Cru’s Simmered & Stewed
Released on the VizzTone label... Tas Cru gives us eleven songs featuring his trademark well-crafted lyrics, strong vocal and well-played cigar box, resonator, acoustic and electric guitars. Simmered & Stewed proves to be a worthy follow-up to Tas’ chart topping You Keep the Money (2014).

This new album has earned high praise. Referring to its high energy opening tracks, “Dat Maybe” and “Grizzle n’ Bone,” Big City Rhythm and Blues says, “Nearly blew me out of my chair!” And the Midwest Record dubs it, “The smokingest record of the year!” The take from Living Blues magazine reaffirms Cru’s well-establish reputation as a gifted writer calling Simmered & Stewed “songwriting with a deep respect for the blues.” Enjoying wide airplay, including being featured as a Sirius/XM Bluesville “pick to click,” for the first half of this year Simmered & Stewed has resided at or near the top of every major blues chart.
