II BIG :: BLACK CAT BONE
Black Cat Bone is the latest hot CD from Northern California classic-rock band, II BIG (Two Big), and their first-ever blues release. It embodies the finest in classic and original blues, and stays true to the roots.

Produced by Indiana Slim with all-star musicians, the album creates classic, house-rockin’ boogie with a driving pulse and a live-in-the-moment vibe.

This CD was recorded with 1950’s Fender Tweed Amp tones that fire up rhythms more infectious than poison ivy and twice as hard to shake! Classic American blues as fine as an ice-cold beer on a red-hot day!

Produced and recorded by Russian River Records in Northern California, Black Cat Bone is now available on iTunes.

II BIG is available for booking. For more information and booking, contact Ken Ingalls at RiverRox Studios, P.O. Box 516, Talmage, CA, 707-367-1853, or email. ....Find more about this CD and these artists

James Armstrong :: BLUES BEEN GOOD TO ME
Catfood Records announces an October 20 release date for Blues Been Good to Me, the new CD from James Armstrong, which he produced with Blues Music Award-winner Johnny Rawls. This is his third album for Catfood, following Blues at the Border (2011) and Guitar Angels (2014).

Recorded primarily at Sawhorse Studios in St. Louis, as well as at associate producer Jim Gaines’ Bessie Blue Studio in Tennessee, Blues Been Good to Me showcases the vocals and guitar of James Armstrong, backed by a hand-picked group of musicians who have played with him on numerous live shows, which made for a very comfortable fit. The band includes Matt Murdick - keyboards, vocals (who has worked with Buddy Guy, John Primer, Little Milton, and Johnny Johnson); Johnny McGhee - rhythm guitar (one of the founding members of LTD and has worked/recorded with Marvin Gaye, Natalie Cole and, George Duke); Andrew Blaze Thomas – drums (who has worked with Billy Branch, Bernard Allison, Ana Popovic and Ronnie Baker Brooks); and Darryl Wright – bass (who has worked with Mavis Staples).

Logan Center to host new annual Bluesfest Oct 13-15

Festival honors South Side roots of blues
(Chicago, IL) - The blues arrived in Chicago with African-Americans leaving the South for northern urban cities during the “Great Migration” of the early 20th century. In particular, the South Side became a hotspot for the style of “Chicago blues” performed by the likes of Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and Willie Dixon in clubs just beyond the UChicago campus.

This weekend, the Logan Center for the Arts will celebrate that legacy through a new annual festival called Bluesfest. The three-day festival from Oct. 13 to 15 will feature concerts, workshops, film, food and conversations with local and national musicians and artists throughout the Logan Center.

“Since we opened our doors, the Logan Center has celebrated the rich cultural history of Chicago’s South Side, and we’re pleased to be able to continue this tradition by creating a new blues program,” said Bill Michel, executive director of the Logan Center. “Like many of our projects, this allows us to feature the work of great artists in the context of the University and the South Side.”

2018 International Blues Challenge (IBC) Announces Schedule
(Memphis, TN) - The Blues Foundation’s (BF) International Blues Challenge has posted their 2018 schedule. We’ve included a list below. The annual International Blues Challenge represents the worldwide search for those Blues Bands and Solo/Duo Blues Acts ready to perform on the international stage, yet just needing that extra big break. Each Affiliate of The Blues Foundation has the right to send a band and a solo/duo act to represent its organization at the IBC.

The IBC is judged by blues professionals from across the world who have years of experience in listening to, producing, and creating blues music. The Blues Foundation has established a set of criteria by which all acts are evaluated throughout the five days of the IBC.
Affiliated organizations are required to stage a regional preliminary IBC competition, with the winner of that event representing the organization in the International Blues Challenge held annually in Memphis, TN along historic Beale Street.  ...Find links and much more about the 2018 IBC
