 | | | | Benny Turner :: MY BROTHER'S BLUES
 |
 |
 | Hard on the heels of his vaunted 2016 album When She’s Gone and his 2017 autobiography, Survivor, living blues legend Benny Turner adds to his family’s legacy with a fifth album that pays homage to his big brother and best friend, Freddie King. My Brother’s Blues is more than your typical tribute album, as it comes from the man who stood by King’s side for decades and helped create his catalog of timeless blues and R&B classics as a band mate, brother, and comrade in arms who paid their dues together, circling the globe spreading the gospel of the Freddie King Band.
 Engineered by Jack Miele, a Grammy, Emmy, Bronze Telly and two-time Silver Telly winning audio engineer, producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist, and mastered by Grammy award-winning Vlado Meller, the 11-song set features Turner on bass, lead guitar and vocals, leading an all-star ensemble of top New Orleans players and special guests ...

 | | Lew Jetton :: PALESTINE BLUES
 |
 | Palestine Blues, the latest, all original album from Lew Jetton & 61 South is a personally poignant and sometimes brutal memoir of a 10 year period in Jetton's life which included struggles with alcohol, drugs, depression, joblessness, frustration and a spiritual tug of war.
 Lew Jetton says, “Palestine is the community in which I live but it's also a place of historic significance for being sacred, while at the same time, a place of conflict. That's kind of where I have been for years. I know a lot of blues is happy and uplifting. This is not. I'm OK with that. I wanted it to be real blues, in the emotional sense, and that's what Palestine Blues is.”

 Palestine Blues is pure emotion. Recorded 3 piece, for the most part, with just Lew on guitar, with bass and drums, so the essence of the songs could show through. ...Find more about this CD and artist

 | | | Keeping a Blues Legacy Alive
 |
 | The Tommy Johnson Blues Festival begins at 6 pm, Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Jackson Medical Mall (350 W. Woodrow Wilson Ave.). Tickets are $20 at Ticketmaster and the doors open at 5 pm.
 (Jackson, MS) - Tera Johnson-Collins, the paternal niece of blues icon Tommy Johnson, says that she has always felt a spiritual connection to her famous family member, who died on Nov. 1, 1956—three years to the day before her birth. It was a desire to uphold his musical legacy that led her to launch the inaugural Tommy Johnson Blues Festival in Crystal Springs, Miss., in 2005.
 "Tommy Johnson never got the public notoriety as a country-blues pioneer, as others have, when he was alive," she says. "Therefore, I feel it's my duty and honor to keep his name in the forefront by putting on the festival and creating the Tommy Johnson Blues Foundation to educate blues lovers, and especially young people, about his profound impact and influence on the industry."
