Daniel Eriksen :: NARRATIVE BOOGIE
"Fucking Amazing!" - Steven Van Zandt (guitarist, actor, producer)

"He's got his own style! If he's copying anyone, I haven't heard them" - Eden Brent (artist)

"He shouts, stomps and screams his way through this set of Delta blues and dark gospel with plenty of feeling. So much, in fact, that you sometimes forget this is a new record from a modern day, Scandinavian blues man"- Blues Matters (UK Blues Magazine)

Award winning blues artist and slide guitarist, Daniel Eriksen, has performed his unique delta style blues, infused with New Orleans rhythms, gospel and  boogie "everywhere" - from Moscow, Russia to Clarksdale, Mississippi via the deep forests of Finland, the countryside of France and groovy New Orleans and everywhere in between- for over 20 years.

Through dedication, and years of relentless touring all over the world, he has built a reputation as a great slide guitarist.

Victor Wainwright And The Train (self-titled)
It had to be a train. The name of Victor Wainwright’s new band – and the sleeve image of their debut album – is also the most fitting of metaphors. In music folklore, the train might have associations with the freight-hopping bluesmen of yore, but with this restless boogie-woogie innovator stoking the furnace, this latest project is a charging locomotive – surging forward, crashing through boundaries of genre, sweeping up fresh sounds and clattering headlong past the doubters. As the man himself hollers in the ivory-pounding title track: “If you wanna boogie get aboard this train/get yourself a ticket or get out of the way…”

At a sweet-spot in his career, where most established stars would rest on their laurels, Victor Wainwright & The Train instead rips up all that has gone before. These twelve tracks are originals in every sense, written by Wainwright, pricking up ears in a sterile music industry and stretching the concept of roots in bold directions.

Blues in the Night… steamy, smoky and spot on
By Maureen Flanagan Battistella /Mail Tribune
(MEDFORD, OR) - With swinging hips and hands that slide skirts up in delight, three women sing lazy, lovely blues in Randall Theatre’s Blues in the Night, which opened Friday [Mar 9] in Medford.

The performers blast out two sets of the 1930s classics made famous by Bessie Smith, Edgar Sampson, Ida Cox, Billie Holiday and others. There’s misery, moaning and lovin’ a good man gone bad. Sultry, sexy, curvaceous women lonely for a man. Ballsy women, busting back at abuse, or loose on a bottle of beer.Kristen Calvin, Rose Passione and Jennifer Davis de Puglia play the women of Blues in the Night, down and out in a seedy hotel, each in a solitary room dreaming of the past. These performers long for youth, fame, wealth and, of course, a man, performing on a rundown set to fit the melancholy tunes. Calvin, Passione and Davis de Puglia are cast as The Girl, The Woman and The Lady, and these talented women can really scorch the stage with the heat of their performance.
