Rockwell Avenue Blues Band :: BACK TO CHICAGO
The members of the Rockwell Avenue Blues Band have each achieved successes over long parallel careers, but there was some unfinished business to attend to. Longtime bonds, which sometimes elude conscious recognition, drew them to Delmark's Riverside Studio on Chicago's North Rockwell Avenue in October of 2017. It was a joyous musical and artistic reunion. Tad Robinson, Steve Freund and Ken Saydak had all recorded for Delmark over the past decades. Now it was time to join together again, as equals who had shared a lifestyle and craft, each in his own way, each with his own voice. So they took a week away from their routines to share a brief moment, frozen in time on Back To Chicago.

“This CD reflects exactly how we sound live,” exclaimed the band. “We have been working together in different incarnations for over 40 years and we bring several American Roots styles together that will appeal to the most discerning listener!” Part of the "last of the golden age" of Chicago blues, they say “we learned from the originators.” The album was recorded in Oct 2017 and produced by Dick Shurman. ...Find more about this artist and release

8th Exit 56 Blues Fest May 26-27 Showcases Women In Blues & more

(BROWNSVILLE, TN) - The West Tennessee Delta Heritage Center will once again showcase the Women In Blues at the 8th annual Exit 56 Blues Fest with a full day of female performers on Sunday, May 27. The festival, presented from the porch of the last home of blues legend Sleepy John Estes, will showcase two full days of blues performances at Interstate 40 at Exit 56, is hosted by N Da Kno’s Jazzii A, an entertainment industry veteran that has toured with Bobby Rush.

“We’ve got an incredible line-up of ladies who are pioneers on the blues scene both in the delta and around the globe,” says Executive Director Sonia Outlaw-Clark. “This showcase includes artist who have performed on the David Letterman Show and Conan O’Brien. They’ve been immortalized on the Beale Street Walk of Fame, in memorabilia cases at The Hard Rock Cafes in Memphis and Pittsburg, garnered numerous Blues Music Award nominations and shared the stage with acts like U2, Bon Jovi and Huey Lewis and the News. It’s absolutely astounding the accomplishments these blues singer/songwriters have received. We’re honored to present them at the 2018 festival.”
