Matty T Wall :: SIDEWINDER
The electrifying guitar of Matty T Wall extends from his native Australia to the world. With the release of his latest collection, Sidewinder, Matty is writing a new chapter in the musical narrative, revealing the power of his expanding artistry through guitar, voice, band and songs.

Key to the sound of Sidewinder is the presence of legendary Grammy-winning producer-engineer Bob Clearmountain. Famed for his work with the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and David Bowie among hundreds of other platinum artists, it is testimony to Matty T Wall’s musical integrity that Clearmountain provides the sonic sparkle that reveals Sidewinder in all of its gritty glory.

Only two years since Matty’s 2016 album Blue Skies, this creative period has been a whirlwind of productivity for the Perth, Australia native. As an enthusiastic audience discovered his music, the press responded with phrases like: “virtuoso,” “everything a true music fan could possibly ask,” and “one of the most inspired musicians of this generation.”  ...Find more about this artist and release

Amazing Talent Booked for 31st Sunflower Fest Aug 9-12
(CLARKSDALE, MS) – When the Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival celebrates its 31st anniversary in downtown Clarksdale August 9-12, booking chairman Maie Smith suggests all 180 musicians performing on 8 stages should claim headliner status.

"Our 2018 festival is a showcase of the amazing hometown talent in our area; some - like O.B. Buchana, "Super Chikan" Johnson, and Christone "Kingfish" Ingram are more well-known than others, but all are extraordinary, she continued.

The festival is being dedicated to the late C. V. Veal, longtime festival emcee, and the late Josh "Razorblade" Stewart, a festival favorite for 15 years.

Since 1988 when Living Blues co-founder Jim O'Neal and Patty Johnson organized the first festival on the banks of the Sunflower River, all musicians needed to be Mississippians or claim a close connection, says Melvita Tillis Presley.

"This is appropriate for the hometown of Muddy Waters, Sam Cooke, John Lee Hooker, and Ike Turner," adds Presley whose father played trumpet with Ike Turner and mentored Buchana in his River Mount Lounge.

Delta Blues Museum Awarded 2018 - 2019 Mississippi Arts Commission Grant
(CLARKSDALE, MS) - Delta Blues Museum has been awarded a $26,100 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission (MAC) for general operating support. This grant is a portion of the nearly $1.4 million in grants the Commission will award in 2018-2019 and are made possible by continued funding from the Mississippi State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.

"The Mississippi Arts Commission supports arts activities in nearly every corner of the state through grants to arts organizations, schools, communities and units of governments," said Malcom White, executive director of MAC. "The projects and programming these organizations produce with MAC funds help enrich our state's communities. This funding helps organizations provide arts experiences and educational opportunities to people who may not otherwise have access to the arts."

"Funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission is crucial to Delta Blues Museum operations," offers Museum Director Shelley Ritter. "MAC support allows us to continue our Arts & Education Program, our high school docent program and our traveling exhibits. These three components play a vital role in preserving and sharing the blues within our community as well as with a worldwide audience."
