| Greetings, Flugelfans!
I’m writing to tell you about a very special event: CELEBRATING ART FARMER, Saturday 3/16 at The Nash in Phoenix.
Art Farmer spent his formative years in Phoenix before launching his storied career and becoming “the bebop master who defined the sound of the flugelhorn in modern jazz” (All Music Guide).
The Dmitri Matheny Group will pay tribute to the jazz icon in celebration of his 90th birthday year and the official launch of the website ArtFarmer.org. Jazz historian Noal Cohen and Lynne Mueller, significant friend and manager in the later years of Farmer’s life, will host the event and provide insights into his life and legacy.
Please join us, and if you have friends in the Phoenix area, send them our way. It’s going to be a beautiful evening of music and memories!
~Dmitri
