Are there people at Asbury that you've spoken to on so many occasions that you're now embarrassed to ask their name?   Do you remember what it's like to walk into a church for the first time and have no idea where anything is, much less when to stand or sit or what book to pick up during the service?  Do you feel that Asbury might be the church in which you'd like to plant some deep spiritual roots?

Music at Asbury
Angelica Women’s Chamber Choir, Sunday, April 28 at 3 pm
Hailed for its “perfect blend and beautiful, transcendent sound,” Angelica is an acclaimed women’s choral ensemble that sings a wide range of sacred and secular music from the 1st to the 21st centuries including chant, Sephardic, Balkan, American folk, and jazz. Angelica performs regularly in New York City and on the Downtown Music at Grace series in White Plains, and has appeared on numerous international choral festivals, most recently in Italy and Lithuania.

Their program at Asbury is called “Vox Feminarum” (Voice of Women) featuring sacred and secular works written by women composers dating from the 13th to the 21st century. In addition to many a cappella works, the group will be accompanied for several numbers by lute, recorders, bells, and percussion.

This is an event not to be missed! Call the church office or visit www.musicatasbury.com to reserve your free ticket today!

The Heart of the Sermon
An excerpt from "Remember, Recenter, Renew" preached by Pastor Jason on April 7.

We're tempted to make the winter seasons of our lives definitive, to say, "That person used to be something, but look at them now," or "God, what did they do to get into such a state," or "You know them, they've always been like that." We make judgements in the midst of these seasons, and even though our kids know that you don't judge a tree's fruit in the dead of winter, we do that to people, to one another, all the time. We don't think about what they're going through, what they've been through. We say, "That person can't do it." Thank God, God doesn't look at any of us like that!
me. I'm gonna move. I'm gonna take a step."

Spring Cleanup
 Thank You
On Saturday April 6, a team of volunteers from the church gave Asbury’s sanctuary a deep cleaning in preparation for Holy Week and Easter services. Thanks to everyone who gave up time on their weekend to help.

Asbury Kids
Enrichment This Week

It is "Polymer Week" for the Enrichment Kids. A polymer is a substance which is made up of small molecules joining together in a repeated pattern to make larger molecules. Wood, rubber and plastic are all examples of polymers.

On Monday we made air dry clay composed of corn starch and glue, canola oil and lemon juice. We super-heated our ingredients to start the chain reaction bonding of the smaller molecules into the larger molecules.

On Wednesday we made plastic of from milk and vinegar ~ if you see any of us throughout the week, ask us how it came out.

Enrichment Sneak Peak
The Enrichment Program is offering a "Sneak Preview" for children who are thinking about signing up for our Program next year. Starting May 6, we are inviting children to come and try out Enrichment and pay the same reduced fees as the children who are registered for next year will pay. Children can attend for a total of 5 days before we ask them to either register for next year or they will start paying the regular Daily Drop-in Rate, which is considerably higher. We are very excited about our Program for next year and are looking forward to meeting our new friends.

Nominations Committee Survey
The Nominations Committee is trying to gather information about the areas of work interest from our clergy and laity. On March 25th we sent out a survey to ALL clergy and laity asking for such information. We have a good number of submissions – however not nearly what we need to help fill our various committees, boards and commissions with the “right” people. Please complete from the link below as soon as you can – the Nominations Committee is at work right now!!!!
