Got a crazy or clever t-shirt photo?

Hey there! We'd love it if you would email or private message us a hi-resolution picture that was taken at a Blues event of you or someone else wearing a crazy, clever, hysterical, eye-brow-raising, or truly poignant t-shirt! Every once in a while we see someone wearing one with some off-the-wall graphic and/or a saying that makes us ponder, smile, covet or just laugh outloud, and  wish we’d taken a picture. We did see and take a few shots on the blues cruise recently, which now has piqued our interest for a collection of sorts.

Email a JPEG of your fun and/or poignant pics with a caption of where it was taken to our E-Guide Editor.

Remember a real pic (not ones from the internet like we just did for examples! Thanks in advance for sharing your crazy with us! Bring it on ‘cause we’d love to see.
(R-rated okay but No super x-rated please)

CD & DVD Releases
 Johnny Burgin :: LIVE
This highly anticipated CD debuted at #3 on the Living Blues blues radio chart. It offers twelve brand-new originals and two covers performed by Johnny’s regular road band and augmented by the cream of the crop of West Coast blues talent. Artists on the CD are Johnny Burgin: guitar, vocals, Kid Andersen: guitar, piano, Steve Dougherty: drums, Aki Kumar: harp, Chris Matheos: bass, with special guests Rae Gordon: vocals, Charlie Musselwhite: harp, and Nancy Wright: sax.

The band had just one night to nail it – which made this recording a crazy, but thrilling, high wire act! Johnny drew from the great Bay Area blues talent pool that lured him to the West Coast back in 2016. Blues legend Charlie Musselwhite’s driving boogie-woogie harp on California Blues is an absolute highlight. You could feel a jolt of electricity run through the crowd when Portland, Oregon-based Rae Gordon took the stage. The end result is a raw, fresh, and original all-star set of blues, shot through with live energy.

It's been 20 years since Burgin’s last CD. “My thing has always been live music,” says Johnny. “Going to shows, booking shows, playing shows. Playing with the best musicians I could. More than anything, I loved the feeling of getting in the van and going. Even better, once I got there, I love the feeling of knockin’ em dead.

…Chicago Blues sax legend Eddie Shaw once said, ‘It takes 20 years to make a bluesman.’ Here I am, ready to play my blues for you.”

They All Stood Up: The Life and Legacy of James Cotton
Please support the film They All Stood Up: The Life And Legacy Of James Cotton

They All Stood Up: The Life and Legacy of James Cotton, a film currently in production, is an emotionally evocative feature documentary that portrays the untold story of James “Superharp” Cotton, a legend whose musical influence shaped the Chicago Blues style having been mentored by the originators of the Delta blues tradition. Cotton’s life tracks a swath of America’s history – from the post-depression cotton fields of the Mississippi Delta to tough Chicago-land’s era of artistic reinvention to today’s live music scene in Austin, Texas. Along the way he plays with Muddy Waters, tours with Janis Joplin and Paul Butterfield and opened for/sat-in with the Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, Santana, Steve Miller, B.B. King and many more.

Rarely seen archival footage and stills are woven throughout a visual landscape of original footage in which some of today’s finest harp and blues musicians lead us on a powerful journey, bringing a fresh and deep understanding of the harp in the expanding blues tradition. In new interviews and original concert recordings, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Vaughan, Steve Miller, Huey Lewis, Billy Branch, Paul Oscher, Annie Raines, Curtis Salgado, Kenny Neal, Rick Estrin, Bob Margolin, James Montgomery and many others bring Cotton’s story to life...

Groundbreaking for the expansion of the B.B. King Museum
(INDIANOLA, MS) —The board of directors and staff of the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center in Indianola, Mississippi held a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the museum this week. This expansion includes a 4,500 sq. ft. addition to the museum that will connect the existing exhibit space with the AT&T Learning Center and will house what is the museum’s largest artifact, the bus on which Mr. King traveled and was his home on the road. The area will also house two of King’s personal automobiles – a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow and a custom painted Chevy El Camino. Other artifacts and material acquired since his death are being preserved, cataloged and interpreted, and among these is King’s most cherished guitar, a Les Paul given to him by Paul himself. The museum also has the last two Gibson Lucille guitars that King signed. These were both used in his funeral procession, carried on a riderless black horse. The still photographs and video from his memorial services will also be powerful additions to the existing films.

Even before the passing of Mr. King in 2015, stakeholders in the museum realized that at some point the rest of King’s life story would need to be told and began collecting material and interviews for the new film to add to the exhibits. ....Find more about the museum expansion
