- Classic City Brew Fest POSTPONED to Saturday, August 29

 Saturday, August 29, 2020

Due to COVID-19, we have postponed our big 25th anniversary CLASSIC CITY BREW FEST to Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the Cotton Press in Athens. This is a quiet weekend in Athens with no football game, so we feel this will be a great time for people to visit Athens' pubs and breweries and attend our amazing festival. MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Tickets are now on sale at the discounted price of only $39.99. What a sweet deal! CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS/INFO

Classic City Brew Fest is the NUMBER ONE fundraiser for the Athens-Area Humane Society that is trying to relocate to a larger, more updated facility in the next few months. We hope you can make every effort to adapt to this new date and support the event and the Humane Society.

If you CAN'T make the new date and already have tickets, please consider writing-off the ticket price as a tax-deductible donation to the Athens Area Humane Society. You can also sell/give your tickets to friends. As a last resort, if you want a ticket refund, please email support@bigtickets.com with your refund request, including your confirmation number.

Please stay safe! We wish everyone the best in these trying times.

- COVID-19's Impact on the Craft Beer Industry

The COVID-19 virus has impacted all aspects of our lives and economy. Pubs, brewpubs, restaurants and craft breweries have been hit hard. We encourage everyone to find ways to support your craft beer pubs and breweries. Stock up on local beers to-go from neighborhood bottle shops, check out the drive-through stands at craft breweries, and buy online gift certificates from pubs and breweries for you and your friends to use when things return to normalcy.

Monday Night Brewing in Atlanta just launched a to-go program and will be donating 25% of all sales and 100% of any tips to our furloughed employees.

Some people are using Venmo to continue to tip their favorite bar and restaurant staffers, even if visiting the establishments isn't possible.

Most importantly, stay safe! If you are young and healthy and not too worried about the virus, please still use caution and remember how easy it is to pass the virus along to someone older and more vulnerable.

Remember to tell your friends and family how much you love them.
We will get through this together!

- A Sampling of New Georgia Beers to Pick Up and Enjoy at Home
Terrapin's new High & Hazy IPA showcases four types of tropical and citrusy hops. The smooth, fluffy body comes from the use of wheat and flaked oats, and the mild bitterness arises from hopping late in the boil. Also check out Terrapin's Los Bravos Mexican Style Lager that offers a lightly sweet malt profile backed by crisp, floral Mt. Hood, Saaz and Tettnang hops. The light Vienna malt profile is especially appealing in this 5.1% ABV lager. Sip it alongside your favorite tacos.

Creature Comforts will release Ria Pell Ale from its Brew For One initiative this spring. "Ria Pell Ale is a pale ale brewed to honor the late Atlanta-based chef and restaurant owner, Ria Pell," notes Creature's Emily Nelson. "The beer is 5.6% ABV and features Motueka, Pacifica, HBC692 and Vic Secret hops. Each year, the Brew For One program will identify a recipient, then develop a new beer brand to capture the essence of that story. 100% of the profits will then be leveraged to aid that individual in a way that is both memorable and meaningful."

Gate City Brewing announced a 6.3% ABV Norwegian-style IPA named Fast Fjord. Brewed with Hornindal Norwegian Kveik yeast strain, this brew is spiced with Idaho Gem, Citra, Galaxy, Nelson Sauvin and Mosaic Hops, providing flavors and aromas of mango, pineapple, tropical fruits and orange. Gate City brewer Pat Rains adds, "Fast Fjord IPA is made with a special type of yeast that lends amazing tropical flavors while fermenting at a high temperature without off-flavors. This farmhouse yeast, combined with an aggressively hopped IPA style, creates a unique and satisfying beer."

New Realm's bold and flavorful Russian imperial stout returns with 9.5% ABV, an opaque black hue, big mouthfeel and intense flavor notes of espresso, dark chocolate and light fruit. "This is the third anniversary of the release of our Doomsday Hound Russian Imperial Stout. It's exciting to see how the brand has grown over the years and has now become one of our most sought-after beers," says Bob Powers, COO and Co-Founder of New Realm Brewing.

Southern Brewing Company
Red and Black

SBC's popular raspberry blackberry Berliner weisse holds 4.5% ABV, 10 IBUs and a mouthful of delicious and complex berry notes all backed by a soft acidity from the mixed fermentation process.

Forget the margaritas. Try a Red and Black alongside a burrito and refried beans or a plate of enchiladas covered in chocolately mole sauce. The fruity tartness makes for a superb contrast.
