Hey everyone!

OMG OMG! So, "South of the Border" is now in the books. What a night it was!  Thanks to all the leaders and all the participants!

For your viewing pleasure, here is the 5 hour recording. CID VIRTUAL - SOUTH OF THE BORDER

There were many highlights, including a surprise visit with Ariane Btl  (who apparently never sleeps!) but let me call your attention to roughly 30 minutes in for teaching and dancing with the incomparable Chen Blum. And then go about 1:34 in to see a delightful segment led by Uruguay's sweetheart, the amazing La Mona Myr. You will also find there a brief, but apparently humorous cameo by someone who will remain nameless. 😊

And please let me call your attention to about 3:55:16 in to yet another highlight, the segment with MajolMX.  They too were fantastic.  Actually, maybe you have to watch the whole session.  It was delightful.

We look forward to seeing you all this coming Thursday.  We were expecting a leadership appearance by our good friend and all around wonderful choreographer/dancer/good guy,
Mitch Ginsburgh!  The bad news is that he took ill.  The good news is that he is recovering very nicely.  Mitch, we look forward to your joining us at another time.  Refu'a Shlema!

This week, we are very pleased to welcome our good friend and wonderful dance leader, Shira Schwartz as she joins us to lead a segment.  And of course we have for you various members of the CID-Virtual Project for your dancing pleasure!

Also, we look forward to Marcos Abulafia from Argentina teaching his new dance, Bat Shel Melech which he showed last week.  And we are also very happy that Daniela Welch will be with us to review her new line dance, Muchacha.  (links are below)

BTW, for those of you who will be observing Tisha B'av, we hope you will join us when you emerge from the holiday.

Thanks again to Pepe/MajolMX for the graphic here, and for amazing dancing last week!

At Chicago Israeli Dancing - Virtual, you'll have noticed greater participation from Chicago leaders.  We'll still have a great mix of dances as chosen by all our national and international leaders, but more of the dances will be known to those who dance with us in Chicago.  Penny will continue to lead classic/beginner dances starting at 7PM Central time.  Oldies will be sprinkled throughout the program, rather than in a dedicated set.

And speaking of beginners:  BEGINNERS VIRTUAL SESSION - in other great news, Penny is continuing her beginner's virtual session that she started on April 29th.  It runs from 7-8PM Central Time!  Please spread the word! zoom link  or ID=834 2711 4296 pswd = Mayim

This week's shout outs: To all of you.  Wishing you health and safety!
  • I cannot ever say it enough.  Huge thanks to all the leaders (and participants) who make Chicago Israeli Dancing - Virtual so wonderful and special each week! Kol Hakavod!!!

Thanks again to Chen for honoring us with your presence and doing such a great job!

Thanks to all the leaders who made our "South Of the Border" program FANTSTICO!

Thanks to Hillary for the cool "We're All In This Together" graphic!

Refu'a shlema to Charlie Rodin, and best wishes to the whole family!  So glad to hear that he is making great progress.

Refu'a shlema to Mitch Ginsburgh who is recovering well from recent surgery.

Hi everyone. As well all now know, painfully too well, the ever-changing developments related to the Coronavirus have been devastating and challenging for all of us. Businesses and communities around the world have had to change plans, close-up shop, cancel events, work from home, etc.
In an effort to keep us all safe, and still together virtually, Chicago Israeli Dancing has begun to hold its weekly Thursday night session via Zoom conferencing. By all accounts, our, inaugural session on March 19th and follow up on March 26th were great successes. People were thrilled just to “be with each other,” to interact, lift their spirits, and to get their Israeli dance fix. So we plan to keep it going.
And to add some additional fun, as well as to support our camp, Machol Merkaz (which we are praying to be able to conduct starting on October 22), we are very pleased to offer you this opportunity to order our new Chicago Israeli Dancing T-shirt.

With your purchase, not only will you be getting a nice keepsake, you will also be helping people to participate in our great camp, whenever we will be able to conduct it. (You can be sure that the need for scholarship assistance will jump dramatically this year.) In addition, we’re looking forward to seeing lots of you wearing this shirt in one of our upcoming dance sessions!

These t-shirts are made-to-order (in your selected size, color, and t-shirt style). It takes between 7 and 14 business days after a campaign closes for shirts to arrive. The campaign has reopened.  You will receive your shirt  7-14 days from the end of the current campaign.

Please share this message with others. This offer is open to the world-wide Israeli Dance community who we now welcome as members of Chicago Israeli Dancing – Virtual. 📷
