Update on the TSA Lawsuit
|
Over the weekend, the DeKalb County School District notified members of the class that are eligible to receive part of the settlement regarding the suspension of the Tax Sheltered Annuity.
First and foremost, ODE was the only professional organization fighting for you in this issue.
Here's what happens next:
The final hearing before the judge will be September 17. Once he signs off of everything, the district will begin funding the account and checks will be sent to members of the class. You don't have to do anything.

Professional Development Institute
|
If you haven't checked your DCSD email, you need to look for information regarding this week's Professional Development Institute. Part of the plan to reduce the furlough days was 4 days of Professional Development Institute (three days in August, and one in January). Failure to attend these dates will result in you not receiving the stipend that is designed to offset the furlough days in the 2020-2021 calendar.

 Virtual Association Representative training is occurring Saturday August 8 and Saturday August 15. ARs only need to register for one of the two dates. The training will occur from 9AM to 1PM. To register, click on one of the links below:

NEA will hold a convening via Zoom on Wednesday, August 5th, at 8:00 pm EDT, to announce the NEA 2020 secret ballot election results, including the vote on the Strategic Plan and Budget and Presidential Endorsement. Results will also be posted on www.nea.org/ra at the conclusion of the convening.

DeKalb County Board of Education Meeting
|
 The DeKalb County Board of Education will hold its regularly scheduled meeting Monday, August 10, 2020 at 1PM. That is, of course, the first day of teacher pre-planning. Once you are off for the day, we encourage you to follow the progress of the meeting. A link to the webcast of the meeting can be found on the district page, or, if you live in DeKalb County and have Comcast, you can tune in to channel 24 to watch the meeting live as well.The full agenda can be found here.
