Greetings
Thank you to everyone who came out today. There were community members, paraprofessionals, parents, and teachers working with us today. We need everyone with us, to show strength and power. You have a right to stand up for yourself. We are an awesome group, focused on keeping all, especially the students, safe.
Superintendent Watson-Harris said she would now go by the Positivity Rate of 10%, as opposed to listening to and following the science and the CDC recommendations. As of today, the Positivity Rate is above 10%. I ask each of you and every citizen you know who lives in DeKalb to send an email to the Superintendent and the Board. This email should tell them how disappointed you are with their lack of concern for the health and safety of students and the employees of DeKalb County School District. Our Lives Matter!
I have another ask of you Rev. Dr. Jamal Bryant Pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church has invited 25 members to come to their studio Sunday Morning 9am. If you are interested in going and simply holding some of our signs, let me know. Deborah.Jones@gae.org
It has come to my attention, Marshall Orson, School Board Chair, has been attending the COVID-19 Task Force Meetings, Orson should not attend these meetings, this is against Board Policy. When Orson attends these meetings, he intimidates the other members. SACS should be made aware of this.
I also understand that Watson-Harris will send something out tomorrow that says, “teachers don’t have to come to the buildings on January 4th.” That makes absolutely no sense. This is not what we want. We want her to say we are not required to go into buildings until the numbers go down, period.
In Solidarity
Deborah
