 | Greetings Flugelfans!
Well folks, the current arts landscape is not ideal. New cases of the coronavirus continue to surge driven by the fast-spreading and highly contagious Delta variant. Nevertheless, as daily vaccination rates rise, so do our hopes for the future, including the future of live performance!
The Dmitri Matheny Group is grateful to be back on the concert stage. We've had a ball playing outdoor music festivals throughout the summer, and we're planning several indoor shows this fall (see Sep/Oct itinerary below) at venues where vaccination or negative test results are required for admission. We hope to resume touring outside the region next spring.
Meanwhile we’re busy preparing music for several exciting new projects: Beleza!, a Brazilian jazz duo with guitarist John Stowell, Legacy, a song cycle of poems by my father Bill Matheny, and Dreamland, a Joni Mitchell tribute with vocalist Holly Pyle. Cascadia, my 12th studio album as a leader, will be recorded in November.
Whatever the future brings we will do our best to adapt and continue finding ways to share our music. Until then, please stay healthy, and remember...we’re all in this together!
Cheers,
~Dmitri
