Blues News You Can Use!
Made it!
After an earlier than expected arrival
in Central Illinois, I am finding that I will
be able to get this newsletter sent before Friday is over!  Being back in my home state always triggers a range of memories. Today's reflection on the untimely passing of Stevie Ray Vaughn, for the "On This Day In Blues History" (Friday, Aug 27), always brings me back to the summer of 1981 when I saw two shows at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin. UFO/Molly Hatchet on Labor Day weekend and RUSH on the 4th of July.
I also used to go skiing in the winter in nearby south central Wisconsin, so I understood the awful weather that brought down SRV's helicopter and it has always haunted me. Sometimes memories can be really be powerful. If you didn't already, check out some SRV music this weekend in honor of his contributions to the blues.
Last week's second countdown to the opening of registration for the Ozark Blues Society's October 22nd Blues Challenge, is moving forward. Information should go up on our website in the next few days and registration will open September 1st. Read on below for more information.
Other current articles are re-running this week, however, take note that the next deadline for BMA submissions is almost upon us. Read on for all the news.

As always, the live music calendar is updated this week.

Always remember, this is YOUR newsletter! Please send feedback or suggestions our way. You can reach me by email at the address below. We appreciate our readers and want
to see your ideas included!
