So, the clerk had four bad guys shooting at him, two from only a few feet away. They all pretty much missed for all the shooting they did, but the clerk managed to kill one of them. He took a couple of rounds to his head and neck but was treated and survived.

Meanwhile, in South Carolina, this fellow and his girlfriend topped off a JetSki only to be rescued by a boater in a pontoon boat. The agitated skier then attacked the boater, twice, so the boater shot and killed the JetSkier...

halCanada's criminal code already includes crimes committed by astronauts onboard the International Space Station as punishable by Canadian law, but it's notable that the country's newly proposed amendment includes moon-related crimes in particular.

Taking out the complexities, this all just means moon explorers from Canada better be on their best behavior. No loitering near a cool crater, littering freeze-dried ice cream wrappers on moon rocks and definitely no stealing from a vulnerable alien, if you find one. Lunar lawlessness is a thing of the past.

MAAWS- the right tool for the job

tank
From what we've read, the Russian tank designers cleverly stashed some 45 cannon rounds conveniently at hand for the cannon loader. They made it easy for him to grab a shell and stuff it up the spout by placing them vertically around the inside of the turret, no complex and expensive auto-loaders. Unfortunately, they didn't plan on what would happen if the enemy shot the turret, which, as it turned out in Ukraine, causes the ammunition to sympathetically explode one by one blowing the turret off and killing the crew of three. Oops.

GM
The "after incident" reports sound quite blasé but, in real time, the radio reports sounded as if the Russians had landed at General Motors... "fighting in the east has intensified during..."

The later report:
A lock-down Friday morning at the General Motors proving grounds was prompted by coca fake gun — part of work on an emergency vehicle in development — "turned out to be nothing," Milford police later said. GM confirmed that it was a "false alarm."

“There was a workplace situation earlier today," Maria Raynal, a GM spokeswoman, clarified. "Police responded accordingly. All employees are safe. Work has resumed at the campus.”

The incident, which sent social media into a frenzy, was first reported by WWJ.

Just before 10 a.m., two buildings went into lockdown, the radio station said, after a tipster reported seeing a massive law enforcement response, which including Oakland County Sheriff's deputies.

Initially, there was concern a barricaded gunman was in the facility.

GM develops police vehicles. A person familiar with Friday’s incident told the Free Press that engineers were carrying fake guns to aid in the project. Someone apparently saw them and thought an active shooter may have been in the building and called police.

Cornell Website

new website
We are working on a new website that will be easier to use for both hand-held and desk-top devices. The search function will be much better and the entire look will be familiar but more modern. Abby and I have spent the last two months converting files to a more usable digital format which should allow for both PDF downloads and more efficient printing for us.

But, (there is always a but, isn't there?) with the cost of the website development as well as increases in inks and paper and all other printing materials, there will be the inevitable price increase. So, if you need something, now is the time to order it. With some luck we should be able to go live by the end of the month.

Cheers, Rob

Hardwaregaragesale (EBAY)- Hi, thanks for the prompt shipping on my order. I wanted to ask you if there I'd anything you can do regarding the print quality. The colors on the cover page seems off wich is acceptable to me but the text on the image on the third page is illegible and the print quality on other text lines on the same page are inconsistent. Thanks!

Dear Hardwaregaragesale - We get so many whiny complaints from people who usabuy 150-year-old documents and expect them to look like Architectural Digest, it is a pleasure to get one that is completely right. The image was illegible. So, I did the best I could to bring it back and will send you a new copy by mail. Meanwhile, I'll also try to attach a pdf for you which may help blow up the image because it still isn't great... if ebay lets me! They didn't, so I did attach images that may help until you get the replacement. Sorry for the lousy copy, Rob Mouat for cornellpubs

After all that the SOB gave us a neutral on ebay anyway! Some of these guys can make you bitter! Rob

Hi Emil, (globalent-99-Ebay) - We are now back from the Easter holiday and are processing orders. I see you bought a load of Weatherby catalogs so I want to confirm that you saw they are reprints, not originals (we reprint over 6000 old gun catalogs and manuals!) Also, would you like to have us send you just one so you can see if they meet your expectations? We have sold on ebay for 18 years and have excellent feedback but with large orders, we like to double-check. Cheers, Rob Mouat for cornellpubs

globalent-99 - I believe that IS FALSE ADVERTIZING. I WISH NOT TO PURCHASE whiskeyREPRODUCTIVE CATALOGS. CANCEL ALL MY ORDERS. Emil H. Remus 907-917-0821

Dear globalent-99, Emil, I'm delighted to cancel your orders. But, there is NOTHING FALSE about the ads we have used for 20 years. The second line of the ad clearly states it is a REPRINT and describes the REPRINT in detail, but because some people don't read about what they buy, we double-check large orders!

Weatherby 1966 Fine Firearms Catalog
14 pages, about 8 1/2" x 11", glossy soft-cover in full color. New re-print IN COLOR, restored and digitally enhanced from a nice original... Printed on high-quality 20# 102 bright acid-free paper. Fully Illustrated.“

Cheers, Rob

globalent-99- Yes -on the Cornellpubs site "Weatherby 1966 Fine Firearms Catalog" they list it a REPRINT. BUT NOT ON THE E-BAY SITE: Weatherby 1966 Fine Firearms Catalog

Emil, Read the AD! The second line on every item you bought says REPRINT in 14point type! Been listed as a reprint for 20 years! The ebay ad is identical to the website ad. Rob for cornellpubs

Hi Abigail, The buyer globalent-99 is returning Weatherby 1985 Fine Firearms. Per eBay's policy, this return has been automatically approved and we've asked the buyer to send the item back. From Ebay

From Emil, globalent-99 "Return costs to customer."

Emil, Do you mean the cost to return it to us? If so, is there a problem? Let us know a little more about your request. Thanks, Rob for cornellpubs

Hello Abby, I decided I needed to add my name to your (long) list of satisfied customers.  I have been a customer for quite a while and have a not inconsiderable stack of your reprints of vintage British rifle and ammunition catalogs. Never have I found issue with your offerings.  Please stay the course, you are, in my opinion, quite the best in customer service and quality. Kind Regards, James Warren

Hello Sid, I'm sorry, ebay commissions cut so deeply into our meager profit that we just can't offer discounts. We purposely price our material at little over cost to make them available to more people. Postage is set by the USPS so we have no latitude there either. Cheers, Rob

beerVon Lengerke & Antoine 1911 Gun & Sporting Good Catalog No. 38 (Chicago)- perdew63-EBAY,  I was wondering if you can recall any V L & A Catalogs that have golf clubs. I recently found a V L & A Putter with hickory shaft. Thank You

Perdew63- While we can't do specific research on ebay listings if you look at the index, you can see if the catalog contains golf products. To easily find "golf" on any page, on your keyboard, type CTRL and F, then in the box type "golf". That will highlight occurrences of the word on the page. Rob for cornellpubs

Readers- we try to stay away from questions like this one on ebay because they often end up with a lot of back and forth emails… does it have the Hickory shaft? Then, “How long is the shaft in the picture”, “can you send me a picture of just that page”, I’m only interested in…”, that sort of thing that doesn’t eventually end with a sale… we’ve been doing this for 18 years on ebay! Also all product links listed here are ours, not the ebay ones because we want people to buy from our website.

Dear foreign buyer, We regret that we are not currently shipping outside the U.S. through gunbroker.com or our website. This is due to requirements by governments that we collect and submit their duty, VAT and import taxes, something we are not equipped to do. Paypal (our “bank”) refuses to reject foreign orders, however, we were able to adjust Paypal settings so that no shipping was charged to your order.

We can offer a few options for you to consider:
  • If you have a friend who can forward your order from the U.S., we can ship to his address in the U.S. or if you have a U.S. address, we can send to that.
  • Many of our publications are available on Ebay and Ebay is capable of shipping internationally, however the Ebay shipping charges are very expensive.
  • In place of a paper copy, we can send you a digital copy of the publication you bought, a PDF version, at no additional charge.
  • Or, we can offer you a full refund of your purchase.
Please let me know how you would like to proceed. Cheers, Abby

Good Morning, Please provide a full refund for the purchase ordered. Really too bad that you do not sell to people outside the U.S. particularily your countries (supposed) closest trading partner and ally. As a former American and vet myself ( I renownsed my citizenship following the election in Nov 2016) this really saddens me. You really should put something on the home page of your website stating that you do not ship/sell outside the U.S. so people don't waste their time and be troubled patronizing your business. Redding Reloading Equipment 1964 Cortland, New York- green_scout (Ebay) Hello, Does this have information on Redding model 32 shot shell reloading press and related parts? Thanks, Paul

No Paul, in '64 they were only up to the M16. Rob for cornellpubs

green_scout Thank you. Do you have any literature on the Model 32? Thank you, Paul

Paul, that is the only Redding catalog we carry, but Redding equipment was advertised in many retail catalogs we carry- Williams, Stoeger, Lyman, Hodgdon, Freeland, and many more. Unfortunately, I don't know offhand which of those we carry on eBay. That sort of research is usually best done on our website where there are easy links to the indexes of the catalogs. cornellpubs: Tryon carried Buffalo Brand Leather cases- 2 pages. Rob for cornellpubs

jhrobts55- Thanks. I actually looked at the mark again and realized it reads H.H. Heiser Denver. Ever seen a reference to those? Thinking maybe 1920's - 1930's?

Heiser was a premier leather manufacturer. Their products were advertised in most top mass marketers catalogs we carry- Abercrombie, Stoeger, Bourne & Bond, Von Lenerke, Von Frazius, and more. We also carry their 1940 catalog- Heiser Gun Holsters and Sporting Goods Catalog #40 (Colorado) Unfortunately, I don't know which ones are on ebay. That sort of research is probably best done on our website. Rob for cornellpubs

Dear tipatcarmc5rff, Hi, we reprint a couple hundred reloading manuals so, if you can tell me a bit more about what you are looking for and what era, I can better help. We reprint, for example, all the Ideal catalogs from 1891-the 1980s. The ideal 1930 for example has the 45-60 in both black and smokeless. Also, when you say manual, do you mean reloading data or a how-to manual? Rob for cornellpubs

Never heard back from him. Ebay can be so exasperating. May i ask Why? Can’t be that hard to put another stamp on the envelope and send it ?  If you don’t want to do that you must refund. Med vänliga hälsningar  Anton

It is not so simple! The EU has required sellers abroad to collect their import duty and taxes. Each country as well as the UK, Canada and Australia has a different tax. We are not prepared to do the paperwork required to fulfill these demands. Many of our publications are listed at ebay which, for a huge price they charge, will handle those tasks. I'll ask Abby to refund your money. Cheers, Rob

Cscpublishing- Never received my money back on the shipping. I gave you great feedback, but i was extremely disappointed in the fact that all I received was a photo copy of a catalog, NOT A REAL CATALOG at all. To me it wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. thanks, Chris

Chris, If you thought you were getting an original, I'm sorry. We reprint over 6000 old firearms catalogs, manuals and books for the information they contain. We state in every advert that ours are reprints (on the second line in 14pt type), however, we do not represent that they are forgeries of the originals which would be prohibitively expensive to produce with papers, inks, and binding necessary for one or two sales of a title a year. I'll ask Abby to look into the shipping request you mention. Rob

Jeff, the best we can suggest is for you to look at the Lefever items we sell on ebay (I think many of our lefever things are on ebay). The images we show may give you some ideas. However the one you selected here is not an original, we didn't have a cover for the one we copied. Rob

HOLY WAFFENBUCHER (eBay), i just retired (story spoiler, means have little income) and have decided to study to be a gunsmith as a hobby. I found your gun book (waffenbucher) reprint collection to be more affordable than trying to get hold of an original. Is there some way I could buy about 10 to 15 catalogs every other month or so and get a special price, maybe free shipping? Trying to figure a percentage price of the total purchase, I believe, would be harder, and you can ship them in one or two boxes all at once, saving postage. I like the late 1800's and turn of the century books so I would exhaust that list first. I have a list of 15 more (already bought two) that I would order if we could make some kind of deal. I hope to have friends come in my gunsmith shop and it would be great to have the library of antique catalogs for them to page through, plus I wouldn't have to worry about an original being damaged. Let me know what the possibilities are. Thank you so much, Jeff Pattermann ARKANSAS

Hi Jim, We would like to help you, but not at ebay where commissions and other charges would kill us. Ebay just doesn't give us any room to help people who want a number of items at a time. Also, we have fewer than half our collection of over 6000 catalogs and manuals listed at ebay. Cheers, Rob for cornellpubs

SAGood day, I found your web-site while searching for information on vintage Ferlach rifles. If I can find the right catalogue I will gladly purchase a copy from you. I recently bought the (30-06 calbre) rifle in the pictures attached, and the only exact rifle I have been able to find was sold on the Guns International site. Could you please page through the few Ferlach catalogues listed on your site and see if you can identify this rifle. It is almost impossible to find anything on the vintage Ferlach products. My guess is that this comes from the era somewhere between 1955 - 1970. Best regards, Francois Rautenbach (South Africa)

Hello, We can't ship to SA at present although I could probably make you a PDF if necessary.  I can't find a rifle similar to yours, all the Ferlach rifles advertised in our publications are double trigger, Mauser action. The closest images are below. Why not write to Ferlach in Austria and ask them? Cheers, Rob

Hello Rob, Thank you kindly for your reply. I wrote a note with pictures attached to Ferlach (Johann Fanzoj) but they do not entertain correspondence. The only other rifle that looks exactly like the one I bought (that I was able to identify) is with a gentleman in Las Vegas NV. He too sent a letter to Fanzoj and he also received no response or feedback. As soon as I am able to get more identifying information, I will be in touch with you again. I noticed that you have nothing on Rottweil o/u shotguns, any particular reason? I have a Model 650 on which I would gladly like more information, year of manufacture etc. Thank you for your time and a great and valuable website! Best regards, Francois
