3. CURRENT EVENTS, PERSONALS, COMMENTS:
Looking forward to seeing you all this Thursday. π
Be prepared for the possibility of a Brazilian invasion. Just sayin.... It was great to welcome back Penny!!! You were greatly missed. Thanks to Nehama for demoing Itach Ad Sof Hazman last week. π
Thanks to Nina for teaching Holechet Itcha last week. Wishing our Gvanim friends, both leaders and attendees, a great camp! Congrats to Melu (who some of you will remember from Machol Merkaz a few years back) on becoming a recognized and sought after workshop leader! Here's a shout out to Jordi, a relatively new member of our circle, who will be teaching a fun dance, Mami Bali, this week. Kol Hakavod Jordi! And another shout out, this time to Leora and David who joined us last week. We are happy that you are joining the chevre! β€οΈ Nina, hope you are having a great time in Maine! Hurry back!!! Ziva, we can't believe you are leaving us for sooooooooooo long. But have a great time in Israel. Give our best to your husband, Moti and of course to any of our friends you see at dancing in Israel. You hurry back too. For sure in time for my annual surprise birthday party!!!
In other news, registration for Hora Eclipse 2024 will open very soon. See below.

On Thursday 7/13, Penny taught Rikud Mei'a - Gadi Bitton - circle. David then videoed us and I sent a copy to Gadi. Hora Mei'a Danced by Chicago Israeli Dancing. He incorporated videos of this dance from sessions all over the world into a mash-up that was displayed at this year's Karmiel in commemoration of 100 years of Israeli dance. As Penny was at Karmiel this year, it was great fun for her to have our group displayed on the big screen there while she iwas there in person! π Courtesy of Marley, enjoy this rendition from Markid Mike's Tuesday night group in Chevy Chase Maryland. β€οΈ Hora Mei'a in Chevy Chase, MD
And Chicago Israeli Dancing actually made it onto the big screen at the Karmiel opening show. Find us at about 1:14 for maybe all of 2 or 3 seconds. But don't blink. π Hora Mei'a at Karmiel 2023 Opening Show
Thanks to Edith Chuartzman for the link!
Speaking of Penny in Israel, we'll leave these up for one more week ππ:

YOU GO GIRL!!! BTW, all these people have a connection to CID past or present. From 5 countries!
And some more from Penny in Israel:

REFU'A SHLEIMA:
Keeping our friend, Larry D, on the refu'a shleima list, and happy to report he is making some progress. Wishing you the easiest and fastest of recoveries. I also want to continue to send best wishes for a speedy and full refu'a shleima to Mindy F! Mindy says she'll come visit sometime. I am very sorry to have to keep Rivka on the list. She is now recovering in a nursing home and would appreciate visitors. Look in the Chicago Israeli Dancing WhatsApp group for contact details (thanks Vered).
Very sorry to have Howard on the list. Wishing him best of luck with surgery scheduled for this week. Refu'a shleima Howard!
We have Mike Century still on the list. Best wishes Mike! And Deb F. for her recent surgery. Oy.
Harriette is still on the list, but it was great to have her with us recently. Sadly, Dina stays on the list and has a ways to go. She is out of the hospital and we look forward to an appearance soon. Refu'a shleima Dina!
I finally was able to take some people off the list! π

9. For IFD Camp/Workshop Directors of the Americas (North, Central, and South)
|
Dear IFD Camp/Workshop Directors of the Americas (North, Central, and South)
Our friend Nona Malki approached me and asked if I would be willing to set up a WhatsApp group for all of us. (I said yes π) In particular, she wanted to make it easy for us to share dates regarding events we are planning, specifically with the intent of avoiding inadvertent date conflicts. While we are all aware that there are ways to publicize our dates once we have them (e.g. JewishAustralia, Rokdim, Facebook, etc.), some of us donβt always have access to these sites or we simply forget to check. So, at the moment, we donβt have an interactive way to reach out to each other to discuss events/dates we are contemplating.
Please join this group and letβs use it to communicate with each other. Of course, feel free to use this group to discuss things that you think will be of interest to your fellow leaders. And please let Phil know who else should be added to the group.
To join the group, you must be on WhatsApp. Please friend Phil (+1 312 519 8669) on WhatsApp and then let him know you would like to join the group.
Thanks much. Phil (and Nona)
