SCENT-FREE ZONE! We have to remind everyone to come "scent free." PLEASE DON'T WEAR PERFUME, COLOGNE, HAIR PRODUCTS, ETC. We have people who have severe allergic reactions to those things and it is very important that we look out for everyone in our community.

3. CURRENT EVENTS, PERSONALS, COMMENTS:
Very much looking forward to being together thisThursday, July11. Please come early as we welcome this year's cohort from the American Friends of Israel War Disabled Veterans. And once again, Kol Hakavod to Esther and Moshe (and team) on this amazing mitzva they do each year!
And in very big news, Machol Merkaz (September 26-29, 2024) registration is OPEN! We are so excited. You can sign up at the Machol Merkaz Website And you can also order the T-Shirts. Please read this from the amazing Carol:
The Machol Merkaz 2024 T-shirt shops are open! Machol Merkaz Celebrates 50 Years of Chicago Israeli Dancing
The reason for the two shops is the availability of products. You have to peruse both shops to see the variety of styles available. The images above are a very small illustration of what is in each shop.
Inspiration and Elements:
The 50th Anniversary of Chicago Israeli Dancing is commemorated through our special t-shirt design. This design blends several key themes:
-
Colorful Circular Rings: These rings draw colors from the Machol Merkaz logo and abstractly represent a vinyl record, paying homage to the media we were using for Israeli dance music in the 1970s.
-
Tie-in To Our Name, Machol Merkaz: "We dance in the center" โ the circular theme captures this essence perfectly.
-
Message of Resilience: "We wonโt stop dancing" is proudly displayed on the back in both English and Hebrew, symbolizing our unwavering spirit and passion for dance. This serves as a tribute to survivors, honors those who did not survive the events of October 7, and conveys a message of hope for the safe return of the hostages.
You have to peruse both shops to see the variety of styles available. You'll find a large assortment of options there!

Congratulations to Rokdim Chicago on their upcoming 10th anniversary party and workshop with Dani Lansky!
******************************************************************************************************************************************
Our thoughts remain with our brothers and sisters in Israel and all their loved ones. Praying for their safety and for peace and for the return of the hostages. ๐โค๏ธ
*******************************************************************************************************************************************
Thanks to Nehama for helping out last week AGAIN and to Nina and Penny for team teaching AGAIN. ๐๐
*******************************************************************************************************************************************
BTW, Julie Harland has organized a new WhatsApp group targeted primarily for Israeli Dance leaders. If you are a leader and interested in being added, please reach out to me ON WHATSAPP. Thx Julie. AND THIS JUST IN, LEADERS WILL BE ABLE TO ENTER/VIEW WHAT DANCES ARE BEING TAUGHT ELSEWHERE. Here is the latest:
ISRAELI DANCES TAUGHT WORLDWIDE PROJECT
Hi everyone. We recently began a project to start to capture the dances being taught by Israeli dance leaders at their sessions. The intent, of course, is to see whatโs being taught where and to use that information to help when we are making our individual โwhat to teachโ decisions. Some people have already participated and we are grateful for that. But we are now ready to take this concept to the next level. (If you are not a leader, I hope you will still find this of interest, and please make sure to pass this on to your leaders.)
With thanks to the amazing Larry Denenberg who was the programming force behind the Global Marathons, we now have a more robust spreadsheet solution for going forward. (The previous one will be discontinued.) Hereโs what Larry has to say about it: โHereโs a new design for the dances-taught spreadsheet. The idea is this: each session leader gets their own personal tab, which they can format and sort and run any way they like. The contents of those session tabs are combined to make new โsorted byโ tabs showing all the dances. To learn more, follow this link: How to use this spreadsheetโ
After that, go to the spreadsheet itself at this link: โIsraeli Dances Taught Worldwideโ This will take you to the index tab on the spreadsheet. You will see the information I need to create a tab for your session(s). If you have multiple sessions, you can choose to have multiple tabs, or just combine all your information into one tab. To get that information to me, you can WhatsApp me at +1 312 519 8669 or email me at philip_b_moss@hotmail.com. We will then make the necessary changes to the spreadsheet to add your tab(s). (Allow for a little time though, the staff is not highly paid and it wonโt be instantaneous.)
Remember please, this is a tool for all of us. To make it most useful, please provide all the requested information. And when adding your dances taught, please make sure to put dates in. They need not be precise โ just directionally correct so that the sorting will work and so your fellow leaders can get some sense of when you taught the dance.
Also, please remember this is not meant to be time-consuming. Just add the recently taught dances each week. That will be great. If you are motivated to go back in time a little, so much the better. And please encourage your fellow leaders to participate. Letโs make this work for all of us!

IN LATE BREAKING SAD NEWS, MACHOL MANHATTAN IN NYC IS LOSING ITS VENUE IN LATE JULY. IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHERE THEY MIGHT RELOCATE TO, PLEASE REACH OUT TO ILAN/RINA!
Machol Ha-Am WhatsApp - Unlike other WhatsApp groups which are targeted primarily to Israeli dance leaders, the new group is open to all Israeli dancers. Direct Message me if you would like to be added. ๐

And just to give you a head's up, Beth Emet has to raise our rent (after having not done so for quite a while). As a result, the price is now $17. (For party nights, $20 plz). Thanks in advance for your understanding and help. โค๏ธ

8. For IFD Camp/Workshop Directors of the Americas (North, Central, and South)
|
Dear IFD Camp/Workshop Directors of the Americas (North, Central, and South)
Our friend Nona Malki approached me and asked if I would be willing to set up a WhatsApp group for all of us. (I said yes ๐) In particular, she wanted to make it easy for us to share dates regarding events we are planning, specifically with the intent of avoiding inadvertent date conflicts. While we are all aware that there are ways to publicize our dates once we have them (e.g. JewishAustralia, Rokdim, Facebook, etc.), some of us donโt always have access to these sites or we simply forget to check. So, at the moment, we donโt have an interactive way to reach out to each other to discuss events/dates we are contemplating.
Please join this group and letโs use it to communicate with each other. Of course, feel free to use this group to discuss things that you think will be of interest to your fellow leaders. And please let Phil know who else should be added to the group.
To join the group, you must be on WhatsApp. Please friend Phil (+1 312 519 8669) on WhatsApp and then let him know you would like to join the group.
Thanks much. Phil (and Nona)
