Joe Williams, the Appalachian Ragman, is inviting us all to gather in ceremony Saturday, March 22nd, to celebrate the Spring Equinox, the direction of East and the element of Fire. Ceremony will be held at the Center for Peace beginning at 10am and lasting until around 4pm.
We will meet in the sound chamber for smudging and calling in of the directions. This will be followed by teachings from firekeepers and elders and will be shared teachings from all who are present.
After a short lunch we will gather in the meadow for the lighting of a ceremonial fire and drumming and singing.
Things to bring:
I ask each person to bring
- a stick
- kindling
- and a small amount of tender.
Additionally
- a bag lunch and drinks for yourself
- drums
- rattles
- warm clothing
- and a story you might want to share
Please gather these items with prayer and tobacco offerings before coming. We will also have the opportunity to offer sacred objects to the fire which are ready to pass on, such as old feathers, strings, prayer ties or broken rattles etc.
Come with love and good intent.
