Summer Camp | Music and Media Production Studio with Big Piph (Ages 14–18)

Class/Workshop | The Momentary
Scholarships Available!

Perfect for teens aged 14 to 18, Music and Media Studio Production is a weeklong day camp for high schoolers from freshmen through seniors interested in songwriting, hip hop, and visual storytelling.
Inspired by our exhibitions Front Row Center and The Prison Concerts, your growing artist will learn to execute their creative ideas and create their own work to showcase to their peers. Throughout this week, teens will work with hip hop ambassador and community activator Epiphany “Big Piph” Morrow on the creative projects that inspire them – whether that be writing songs or making music videos. They will learn how to tell a story through their songs and content creation. Teens will then share the work they have created in an exciting showcase open to other teens on the evening of Friday, July 18, from 6 – 8 pm!
SUPPORT OUR YOUNG MUSICIANS
ON JULY 24TH AT GEORGE'S!
Come see your next generation of great young musicians! The School of Rock AllStars program takes the very best students from around the world and sends them on a summer experience that further enhances their musical knowledge and industry professionalism. Becoming an AllStar is the highest level of achievement for a School of Rock student, and less than 1% of School of Rock students are selected each year to represent local schools as an AllStar. These students often go on to have accomplished careers in the music industry. Former AllStars have gone on to become touring artists, star in Broadway musicals, get signed to record deals, become finalists on talent competitions like The Voice and American Idol, or have other notable roles in the music industry. THIS WEEK'S FEATURED VIDEO
From Wikipedia:
William James Dixon (July 1, 1915 – January 29, 1992) was an American blues musician, vocalist, songwriter, arranger and record producer.[1] He was proficient in playing both the upright bass and the guitar, and sang with a distinctive voice, but he is perhaps best known as one of the most prolific songwriters of his time. Next to Muddy Waters, Dixon is recognized as the most influential person in shaping the post–World War II sound of the Chicago blues.[2]
Dixon's songs have been recorded by countless musicians in many genres as well as by various ensembles in which he participated. A short list of his most famous compositions includes "Hoochie Coochie Man", "I Just Want to Make Love to You", "Little Red Rooster", "My Babe", "Spoonful", and "You Can't Judge a Book by the Cover". These songs were written during the peak years of Chess Records, from 1950 to 1965, and were performed by Muddy WatersHowlin' WolfLittle Walter, and Bo Diddley; they influenced a generation of musicians worldwide.[3]
Dixon was an important link between the blues and rock and roll, working with Little WalterChuck Berry, and Bo Diddley in the late 1950s.[4] In the 1960s, his songs were adapted by numerous rock artists. He received a Grammy Award and was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
