The Challenge Is On! 8/3/25
at George's Majestic in Fayetteville
Every year, the Ozark Blues Society of NW Arkansas sends bands and solo/duo artists to Memphis to compete in the International Blues Challenge. The first step to the Memphis competition is our local Challenge here in NWA. This year our competitors are Batterton & Edwards, Jimmy Stengel, The Procrastinators, and the R.D. Olson Blues Band.

Your attendance at the Challenge helps raise funds to send both a band and a solo/duo act to Memphis, with rooms paid and a daily stipend for food, etc. Let's get our artists there to represent us here in NWA. Let's give them the opportunity to meet record execs, festival bookers, and many others who can help their music careers! Here's where to buy tix in advance, or reserve a table -- GEORGE'S MAJESTIC TIX TO THE BLUES CHALLENGE 8/3/25

Community Events
As so many NWA and regional musicians know, Chris Moore's East Hall Recording Studio is an essential resource for our music community. Come celebrate at George's Majestic this Sunday, 7/20, and enjoy performances by TV Preacher, Pyrocratic, Formals, Squash Garden, Jess Harp, Sad Palomino, and Sawyer Hill.

From the Fayetteville Flyer article linked above:
This month, East Hall exists in a bizarre state of both celebration and anxiety as Moore prepares for an event marking 20 years in business, while also navigating a Highway 112 expansion project that is threatening to claim the land on which his home and studio have existed on for all these years.

Moore will celebrate East Hall’s 20th anniversary with a show at George’s Majestic Lounge on Sunday, July 20, featuring a ton of bands that have experienced the magic of recording at the studio. The show will feature a who’s-who of local bands that have recorded with Moore over the years, including TV Preacher, Pyrocratic, Formals, Squash Garden, Jess Harp, Sad Palomino, and Sawyer Hill.

Come join in to make some noise, dance, and have a great evening in Basin Spring Park. Join in the fun! Bring a drum or anything else that makes noise and join the drum circle with Angelo and his troupe of drummers and dancers.

The Fayetteville Farmers Market often features musicians on the street, and always offers great locally grown produce and street parties. On Saturday, August 2nd, there's the Watermelon Festival. Will they have a melon tossing contest? Gotta go to find out!

SUPPORT OUR YOUNG MUSICIANS
ON JULY 24TH AT GEORGE'S!
Come see your next generation of great young musicians! The School of Rock AllStars program takes the very best students from around the world and sends them on a summer experience that further enhances their musical knowledge and industry professionalism. Becoming an AllStar is the highest level of achievement for a School of Rock student, and less than 1% of School of Rock students are selected each year to represent local schools as an AllStar. These students often go on to have accomplished careers in the music industry. Former AllStars have gone on to become touring artists, star in Broadway musicals, get signed to record deals, become finalists on talent competitions like The Voice and American Idol, or have other notable roles in the music industry. THIS WEEK'S FEATURED BLUES WEBSITE

This site features Blues legend videos and photos, collected and posted from a source in the U.K. Here's what he says about his site: "Blues fan and guitarist for the Delta Kites & SuperFuzz having an amateur go at colourising old blues clips. I used to run the BadlyDrawnBallbag channel that was taken down so starting again here..."

He has posted a B.B. King TV interview from 1971 that reveals a different side of the B.B. we think we know. B.B. is a teacher in this video, playing styles from his influencers. Here's the link:
