My father's nephew was the blues musician, Lowell Fulson.
Every time he came around, he had a pretty car, a beautiful woman and a slick sharkskin suit. Believe it or not, that's how I decided I wanted to get into music.

INTERNATIONAL BLUES CHALLENGE

If you've been following our news about the artists who won our OBS Blues Challenge, then you know that Batterton & Edwards will compete in the Solo/Duo Category, and the R.D. Olson Blues Band will compete in the Band Category. Here's the main schedule of events, in hopes that many of our OBS Members will be attending!
(MEMPHIS, TN) - The heart of the Blues is callin’ you home to Memphis, where legends are honored and history is made! The 2026 International Blues Challenge (IBC) is happening Jan 13-17, 2026, throughout Beale Street.
Various Jams after competition will be also happening at the Hyatt Centric, Rum Boogie Cafe, Club 152, Blues City Cafe, and Alfred's.
