Announcement of OBS Annual Meeting and Election
|
The Board of Directors’ Annual Meeting will be on April 9th, 2026 at the Music Depot, starting at 6:30 p.m. We will announce our officers and directors just prior to starting our bi monthly blues jam.
Members wishing to submit name for consideration may send their submissions in starting today, until cutoff at 5:00 pm on April 1st, 2026. Only active OBS Members in good standing may present names for consideration. Open positions: Vice President, Secretary. Requests to join the Board of Directors can also be submitted.
Submissions should be sent to: ozarkbluesnwa@gmail.com.

Body: State full name, position interested in, and write a short note as to why you would like to become involved with OBS. Email should include an address, email address, phone number, detailed resume with verifiable current or former experience, and three professional references.
All positions are volunteer positions. Our board is a working board. Interested parties should have the time and energy to contribute towards volunteer work at events, meetings, committees, and/or fundraisers.

Seventeenth Annual Workshop Experience 2026
June 16, 2026 - June 19, 2026
Masterclasses in Piano, Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Harmonica, Bass and Drums at the Hopson Plantation and Shack Up Inn - Clarksdale, MS
For piano, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, drums and harmonica, professional Blues musicians will present the music and techniques for playing it. Sorry, no beginning students allowed. Everyone needs to already have a basic knowledge of their instrument. We won't be starting from scratch. Any musician who has been playing seriously for a year or so should be able to make a lot of progress in his or her Blues playing. We require at least two years experience for piano workshop participants and advanced level experience for acoustic guitar.
Workshops are open to the young and young at heart - adults welcome! Scholarships are available for youth ages 12 to 21.
UPDATE: The Drum, Bass and Electric Guitar Classes are FULL. You can apply for the WAITLIST or consider the Harmonica, Acoustic Guitar or Piano classes. |

This year's festival is at the iconic Johnny Cash Boyhood Home in Dyess, Ark.! The theme: “The Arkansas Roots of Sister Rosetta Tharpe” – celebrating the Cotton Plant native who's called the Godmother of Rock 'n' Roll and a huge influence on gospel, blues, and beyond. CLARA SMITH
Clara Smith (March 13, 1894 – February 2, 1935) was an American classic female blues singer, billed as the "Queen of the Moaners", although she had a lighter and sweeter voice than many of her contemporaries. Here she is doing Tom Delaney’s "Nobody Knows How I Feel This Morning," recorded on February 20, 1925 in New York.
"I even hate to hear your name this morning... I could kill you quicker than an express train." Apparently that man did her wrong.
