The Untamed Erotic 🌿 Rewilding the Erotic Body

Over these last few weeks, I’ve been exploring the untamed in my own life through the lens of my beginnings. These stories and memories have brought me back to my roots in ways I did not expect. The experience has been, and continues to be, an awakening. I hadn't realized just how much of who I am lives in where I came from. There will be more stories. Thank you for all your kind words and the stories you've shared in return.
And, in a way, these stories have brought me back to the question at the center of my life. What does it mean to be fully ourselves? To me, orgasm is the experience of being fully ourselves. Fully alive. It is the space where the mind goes quiet and something greater appears.
We normally think of orgasm as the perfect exclamation point at the end of great sex. But what about that post-sex glow? That aura of exhilaration we emit immediately after lift-off? Is there intimacy beyond orgasm?
There are two ways to experience orgasm. Most of us have experienced both. One is through striving - we tense our bodies in order to build sexual arousal to a peak. The other is through allowing - we relax in high states of arousal and orgasm emerges naturally. The first can be somewhat limiting and isolating. We turn our focus away from the experience we’re having to achieve a goal. The second is more likely to be uniting, an experience that encompasses us and emerges from inside of us, creating an aura of intimacy that brings us closer - even when the sex we are having is solo - we are at one with the tranquil aliveness of life.
This is known as the Valley Orgasm. Valley Orgasm invites us to feel more, on every level, while we, at the same time, relax and move beyond the orgasm and intimacy we are familiar with. We discover something new and our perceptions are transformed. We experience ourselves and our lover as a constant state of exhilaration. In this, we literally become the Spandakarika, the great mystery. The spontaneous vibration that everything in the universe is made of.
We are diving into this exploration throughout this week and beyond.
Monday explores the valley, where erotic sensation emerges, wanders, disappears and returns, revealing the hidden life within our sexual experience.
Wednesday we experience the Valley Orgasm practice, an invitation to follow sensation without holding on to where it has been or where it might lead.
Friday, Vera and Sören enter the valley together, discovering that beneath years of familiarity is the mystery of who they are now, and the possibility of meeting one another anew.
Enjoy listening!
Much love, Dawn

I'd Like to Introduce you to . . . Valley Orgasm
|
"In order to experience the timeless joy of ecstasy, you have to be willing to move beyond your natural attraction to genital orgasm and give up, at least temporarily, the intoxication of explosive release. I am pointing to a way to transform the energy that is normally consumed in short-lived genital release in order to achieve a much more ecstatic and psychedelic form of orgasm. And I use the word psychedelic here in its true meaning: psyche-delos, "mind manifesting", showing forth the true dimensions of the self-spirit - that is, revealing a liberating, prolonged, even timeless form of orgasm involving your body, heart, mind and spirit."

A practice for relaxing and moving beyond the orgasm and intimacy we are familiar with so that we may discover something new. So that our perceptions are transformed. To literally become the Spandakarika, the great mystery. The spontaneous vibration that everything in the universe is made of.
Valley Orgasm First Steps Practice
Find a place indoors or out in nature where you will not be disturbed. Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing.
Begin standing. Place your feet parallel and soften your knees. Feel your entire body relax.
Bring your attention to your belly and let it open out in front of you. Let your belly be open and fully relaxed. Notice your breathing, do not change it, simply give more space for it to be as it is, feel it. How can you be intimate with your breathing, the way you would be close to a lover?
Allow 2-3 minutes for this attunement. Are there inner struggles? Is it difficult to accept yourself as you are? Do you find you are lost in thoughts? How can you accept the thoughts without getting lost in them? Can you commit and be attentive to your body right now?
When you feel ready to continue, tip your pelvis slowly, forward and back. Imagine your pelvis dangling off your lower spine the way your hand dangles off your wrist. Can you relax so completely that your pelvis rotates forward and back smoothly, independent of the lower spine?
Let your shoulders melt toward the hips. Release the back of your thighs. Continue to rotate and tip the pelvis forward and back, forward and back, breathing naturally, letting the belly out. Give yourself at least 3-5 minutes for this stage of the practice.
Then, relax your sexual muscles. Feel your sexual energy. Allow this energy to fill your body. You may experience many thoughts during this process - it may feel uncomfortable or impossible to access your sexual energy without a partner or without stimulation - notice these thoughts if they arise and continue the practice. Allow 5-7 minutes to explore filling your body with sexual energy.
You are releasing tensions that may have limited your experience of orgasm, tensions in the lower spine and belly that sequester sexual arousal in the genitals, leading to an outward explosive orgasm. You are developing an awareness of the internal body. You are creating an inner vessel for sexual energy. You are opening an inner path for orgasm.
The Valley Orgasm first fills the pelvis with arousal, then moves upward, filling the entire body. This may not happen the first several times you practice . . . give it time.
Soon, you will discover that orgasm is not only a peak, it can be a valley as well.

Please send me your questions - what's happening in your life? Thanks to those of you out there in our world-wide community who've reached out.
If you don't see your question here, fear not. All questions submitted will be answered over the coming weeks.
Dear Dawn,
Thank you again for a beautiful retreat this summer.
I woke up this morning and during meditation a question came up for me I wanted to get your advice on. In the last practice during the retreat in June, "heart-centered breathing," I started feeling overwhelmed with the energy flowing through my body. There was the sense of losing control over my body which I have not felt very often before. The breathing, the focus on my heart, and feeling the other person’s response were extremely strong. I felt deeply connected, felt, and energetically understood. How is this possible with a person I hardly know?
My intention going into the workshop has been to further explore and understand and "control" my sexual energy, and to turn it inward as a powerful life source. Is there something I don't understand or that I am not doing quite right? My quest is to gain control and instead I appear to be losing it.
I would love to hear your take on this.
Thank you! Celina
Malibu . California
Hello Celina,
It sounds like you’re right on track.
It’s perfectly normal for us to gain a clearer sense of ourselves through interaction. The heart-centered breathing experience with your partner made you even more aware of the energy flowing through your body. This energy is your own. It is who you are.
Moments of feeling connected and energetically understood arose between you. This is our natural state. There was no “trying” or “doing” at all. Because of the boundaries and the honest container of the practice, meeting was possible without the mind working overtime wondering where things might go.
The next step is to realize this experience is the essence of who we are. Perhaps mastery is not control at all. Perhaps it is our capacity to remain present and connected to ourselves and our partner as energy rises, recedes, changes and deepens.
This flow of energy lives inside us. While our connection with another person may amplify it, the other person does not create it. Perhaps the key here is to forgive ourselves for thinking we have done something wrong when this energy appears. We are brilliant, vital, beautiful human beings. It is perfectly normal for this flow to be present within us all the time.
When we look at it this way, feeling deeply connected to someone we hardly know seems natural. Shouldn’t we all have the capacity to feel one another? And, in that connection, can we begin to dismantle the fairytale belief that every surge of aliveness means we must follow it outward rather than deeper within ourselves?
Then, relationship becomes something totally new. Something stable and balanced. A decision that is made from that flow within. We are no longer two halves looking to become whole. We no longer operate from need. We experience the generosity that love truly is.
Sending you lots of love, Dawn

Tips for getting the most out of Be Fully Alive . . .
|
• Create a rhythm that works. The podcast offers three chapters each week and the masterclass brings one theme into direct experience each month. Go at your own pace. There’s no such thing as missing out or falling behind.
• Before pressing play, take two minutes to make a transition. Turn off notifications. Let go of the day. Begin the experience inside yourself before the episode even begins.
• Listen with your whole body. Notice your breathing, sensations, emotions, resistance, curiosity and surprise. There is often as much happening beneath the words as there is within them.
• Headphones are recommended. Not everyone in the grocery store, airport lounge or next car over is ready for Valley Orgasm.
• Pause whenever you feel the desire for a little space to digest. There’s no need to hurry toward the end of an episode or practice.
• If you’re listening at 1.5 or 2x speed, uh, yeah, you might want to slow your roll. The mind may enjoy efficiency. The body prefers a slower pace, and co-regulation does too.
• Enjoy the journey. The Monday episode opens the theme. The Wednesday practice brings it into the body. The Friday story offers a reflection, a space to notice what feels familiar and what reveals something new.
• Practice. Listening and understanding are only the beginning. Even five minutes of direct experience can begin to change a familiar pattern.
• Modify every practice in whatever way makes fuller participation possible. If a boundary, physical limitation or strong emotion appears, take time to create the best situation possible.
• Feel free to return to an episode more than once. You’ll hear something different every time.
• Keep a journal nearby. Write down a phrase, sensation, question or discovery. Notice what sticks around in the body and mind after listening.
• Bring the exploration into ordinary life. Into a conversation. A moment of touch. A moment with yourself. A walk. A difficult feeling. The few minutes before sleep.
• Ask questions. (I love questions.)
• Make requests. (I love requests.)
• Send music suggestions. (I love music suggestions.)
• For the monthly masterclass, create privacy, gather all the things you love most for comfort and arrive a few minutes early. Give your body time to land before we begin.
• Treat yourself and every member of this community as someone precious. I can promise you, each one of you is.
• At the end of an episode, practice or masterclass, take a moment to fully savor everything you have experienced and received.
• Allow five to ten minutes each day for your practice.
