March 2008, New Moon
The Moving News
Welcome Back!

February was so bizzy that I didn't have a chance to send out the FULL COLD MOON news. So, here we are at New Moon and it's already March. I hope you all made it through Cabin Fever. In between buzzing here and there in the snow, sleet and rain, I was fantasizing about laying on a lovely-large-hot-dry-canyon rock in the Sonoran Desert! Aaaahhhh!! Maybe later, another day.

For now, there is a lot here I want to share with you. So...take your time going through this...take a peek first at all the "rooms" below.....and thank you for letting me know... you are out there reading, listening and enjoying the show...i mean.....news. (couldn't fight the rhyme)

It was exciting and sometimes shocking to bump into some of you and have you mention the newsletter, in CyberWorld it sometimes feels as though it's just me and the screen...it's nice to be surprised.....to know you are also out there......

reaching out of the knot, to connect, creature to creature....

Injoy.......

Review of MoCA show
worth mentioning......

This past month I had the joy and honor of performing at the Dance Flurry Festival in Saratoga Springs again and with a soul path mentor, teacher and confidante....Dianne Walker...at Mass MoCA in North Adams.

The Dance Flurry was wonderful and crazy. So many dancers, so many dances, so much music...wow. I performed with musical conversationalists and friends, Mike Fahn on valve trombone and Brian Bender, on piano as part of the Percussive Dance Festival. I was falling in love with the other percussive forms such as Sean Nos, a traditional old style irish step performed by Kieran Jordan and with the QUEBECOIS STEP DANCING of Papillon.

In my piece, we experimented with some musical (and movement) ideas and given that the floor didn't sound as good as I would have liked, we were able to really create an engaging atomosphere with the taps and the tones shared. Click on the TICKETS button to be sent to YouTube to view a video of this performance. There is a glitch at the end of the video that we need to iron out, so stay tuned for the fixed version. Let me know what you think of it! Overall, It did feel really great to be there. Mike and I taught a Rhythm Tap workshop the next day that was very well received and we had a blast.

The photo to the right above is from the TAPDANZ INC. performance of DIANNE WALKER & FRIENDS. from FEB 23 at Mass Moca in the Hunter Center. What a blessing and a challenge to be a part of this production. Dianne is truly a soul sister and a gifted teacher. It's not about the steps anymore... (Even though i really needed some help with the BS Chorus.....thank you CLAUDIA!!!)..it so much about the soul. life. lessons go deeper than the sole.
I shared the stage with some amazing, devoted dancers......all living this path as well. The lessons from this will continue for quite some time. I appeared onstage with Mike Fahn, Aimee Gelinas and Marafanyi Percussion. Quite an eclectic mix. We experimented with some thematic and musical ideas, though this time the commuications were a bit skewed hypnotic.....such is the risk one takes when they take such risks....let's just say The Trickster was in The House. Stay tuned for a video of this to come out soon.

...click on the link below the photo to be sent to a review about the show, a review which failed to include me ...as my piece included unlisted musicians and so on.....but as you'll see the support came through and the writer apologized to me for the lack of space and insight to mention my work. What a ride it's been in representing myself, my vision and the muse at large.

Best to enjoy it as much as possible.
I am learning.
