|Know Thyself ~ Mote In the Eye
|Svadhyaya in Yoga means self-study and sacred study. In Yoga and AcroYoga we constantly remind ourselves, for our best health and growth, to accurately self-assess. As a firm believer in life-application Yoga, I'm always astonished and delighted to find svadhyaya in myself in real life.
A lifelong talker, I always thought myself an adept communicator, so any communication shortfalls I laid directly at the feet of all other parties with whom I sought communication. Of late I have recently and remarkably felt something like scales fall off my eyes with regard to this. Yes, I talk well and earnestly. But the openness to hearing without rebuttal ~ ah, that. The listening, the hearing. I stand in a moment of svadhyaya.
So perhaps it is a day of atonement for me this year on my Yom Kippur birthdate. If you have ever been at the receiving end of my "more talk, less hear" communications, I acknowledge self-awareness of the need to listen more deeply.
|Yoga Retreat Weekend: October 23-25
|Escape from New York is a movie I never saw, but I think it every time I run this Yoga retreat in Bethel, NY, the pastoral town that was home to the 1969 Woodstock Festival, hosted at beautiful Wagging Tail Yoga Studio.
The warmth, beauty and community alone justify the getaway. The shared meals, yoga classes, and fellow retreatants are the icing on the cake. It's a Yoga vacation I look forward to each time, though I co-teach it and co-run it. Early Bird ends today, my birthday, but as a special present I can extend that if you reach out to me this week! |NYC Elemental AcroYoga Immersion
|I celebrate my birthday week by teaching the 5-day AcroYoga Elemental Immersion from Saturday to Wednesday with my delightful co-teacher sister Katie Capano from Philadelphia!
An Elemental Immersion deeply builds foundations and refines them, with both the nurturing, healing touch of AcroYoga and the dynamic acrobatic skills that build on the healing touch.
Join us for for 5-day or 1 or 2-day weekend options. Great for beginners, yoga teachers, and anyone on the AcroYoga teacher path.
A few spots left.
I am tickled to be teaching AcroYoga at the 2015 NYC FallForZouk Festival which runs October 16-19 in New York.
Class is Sunday 12:45-1:45 at Chelsea Studios, 151 West 26.
