Omar Coleman :: OMAR COLEMAN LIVE! AT ROSA’S LOUNGE
Rooted in the blues and spiked with R&B urgency, Omar Coleman’s Live! At Rosa’s Lounge on Delmark Records contains 10 mostly funkified songs. "We like our blues with a dose of funk, soul and all other kind of stuff," says Omar Coleman. Eventually these supposedly separate genres run into each other especially with the new generation of blues artists taking over.

Even though it was only available for the second half of the year Omar's Delmark debut Born & Raised was #15 on Living Blues magazine's top radio albums of the year. In that LB review of the album Roger Gatch said, "The album bears the mark of an artist who is appropriately confident in his abilities as a singer, harmonica player and songwriter and who is steeped in the classic blues sounds of his home city yet unafraid to take them in a more contemporary direction..." ...Read more about this release

Big news for Nick Schnebelen! He and his band’s "Around The World 2017 Tour” will kickoff on January 10, 2017 at Fanatics Pub in Lima, New York. BB King’s Band on the Road Again…
The Thrill is Not Gone... We're Back! Keeping The Blues Alive… BB King’s Blues Band can’t stop playing the music that was born in the Mississippi Delta.

If you thought “The Thrill Is Gone” meet BB King’s Blues Band on tour across the United States and hear the sound that made Mississippi “The Birthplace of the Blues.”

Many of the original BB King Band members have come together to “Keep the Blues Alive” for their fans and to perpetuate the music that King made famous all over the world.

Myron Johnson, BB King’s Tour Manager has re-assembled the band with celebrated Mississippi bluesman Jesse Robinson, as the frontman. Robinson was singled out by “BB” as his favorite guitarist on numerous occasions, therefore, “Jesse was the obvious choice to lead the band as we hit the road to honor the “King of the Blues,” according to Johnson.

Blues legend receives honor for his part in desegregating nation's military
(St. Louis, MO) - Fans of blues legend Johnnie Clyde Johnson long have complained that – although a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – the native St. Louisan’s stellar musical talents were often unfairly overshadowed by others.

As U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill put it, “He wasn’t quite as ‘showy’ as some of the other musicians he hung out with.”

His low-key nature could explain why Johnson, who died in 2005, also didn’t dwell on another significant part of his life – as a member of the Montford Point Marines, the corps’ first African-American unit. It was set up during World War II – years before the U.S. military was finally ordered desegregated by then-President Harry S Truman in 1948.

On Monday at the National Blues Museum, before a crowd of Johnson’s relatives and admirers, McCaskill formally presented the Congressional Gold Medal to Johnson’s widow, Frances Johnson.

Note from the Delta Museum Director about deadline for matching Museums for America Grant
(Clarksdale, MS) - It's late fall down in the Delta, with cooler weather, but things have been hot and hopping at the Museum.
