In collaboration with leading arts organizations, Dmitri Matheny is sharing the joy of jazz with aspiring artists, audiences, adults and children. This season’s educational offerings include:
KNKX School of Jazz — KNKX public radio (Tacoma WA) has enlisted Dmitri as a mentor in their award-winning School of Jazz program, which pairs professional jazz artists with high school jazz bands for training, performance and live broadcast opportunities.

Seattle JazzED — Dmitri is proud to serve as coach of the Seattle JazzED Art Farmer All-Stars student combo. “Our organization works with a terrific team of teaching artists to provide music education for more that 400 kids from over 70 schools,” says Kelly Barr Clingan, education director with Seattle JazzED. “We’re delighted that Dmitri is joining us.”

Jazz Night School — Dmitri will teach Discover Jazz, an innovative jazz appreciation course for all ages at Jazz Night School in Seattle. Offered on Saturday mornings, Discover Jazz will demystify the music, exploring its key figures and recordings, explaining the function of each instrument in the ensemble, and discussing jazz’ colorful history from the personal anecdotes, first hand accounts and oral histories of the actual musicians who were there. Workshops — Dmitri offers three workshops on tour: Melodic Mastery, lyrical jazz improvisation; Bandleader Bootcamp, advanced training for jazz ensembles; and Music in the Digital Age, a business tool kit for today's professional musician. More Info
