Show off your 2016 BFG Magazine!
Houston music enthusiast, house-concert producer and multi-instrumentalist Jeff Abrams (L) and Blues photographer Donovan Allen (R) take a moment to show their BFG mags at 5,897 ft. / 1798 m asl on Mt. Rigi’s summit in central Switzerland during their 18-day “Islands to Alps” live Blues Music Tour. Gregor Maranta, a Swiss hiker who just arrived on the summit from a village far below, was gracious to take the photo with Donovan’s rig. Jeff and Donovan’s Challenge: Beat this ground-elevation mag-pose!

Johnny Nicholas :: FRESH AIR
Acclaimed roots musician Johnny Nicholas' latest CD, Fresh Air, showcases his multiple talents on various guitars and soulful vocals for an album surely to be one of the best musical revelations of the year.

Fresh Air was produced by Bruce Hughes and recorded at Arlyn Studios in Austin. Featuring an all-star cast that includes Scrappy Jud Newcomb (guitars, mandolin, mandocello), John Chipman (drums, percussion, vocals) and Bruce Hughes (bass, vocals, percussion), plus a guest list that includes Cindy Cashdollar (lap steel and additional guitars), the new CD creates a satisfying statement of true American roots music at its finest and most authentic.
“Fresh Air is a collection of stories and melodies that have haunted me for some time,” says Johnny Nicholas. “There are some different styles here but all of this is the blues as I know it—as all American music and rock and roll has sprung from the same source. ...Read more about this release

You can Sign Petition to help iconic Chicago Midway Music Store keep its lease
 (Chicago, IL) – George’s Music Room was an iconic record store on Chicago’s West Side for over 30 years before succumbing to changing tides. But the popular store has survived now at Chicago’s Midway Airport since 2001, where it was awarded space by Mayor Richard M. Daley’s administration. However, now George’s is losing its airport lease under a revamped concessions lineup. To Chicago residents and the thousands of airport goers from around the world that have discovered and enjoyed George’s Music Room, this is disheartening news. George’s is also said to be the only Black-owned business at Midway.

A petition has started to help George’s Music Room stay at the Midway Airport. “George Daniels is an icon within and outside of the music business. His location in Midway is also iconic,” states the petition. If you’d like to help keep George’s Music Room at Midway ... click here to sign the petition and find more details
