Blues News You Can Use!
Back in the Saddle

We got home earlier this week from gallivanting around the midwest for the most recent edition of my family's epic High School Graduation trip (only one kid left to go!) We scored in Cleveland at the Q Arena where we saw Queen with Adam Lambert. The venue had apparently for some reason held open some first level seating sections that were on the sides of the stage. So just before the concert started they came up to the nosebleed section back rows where we were and offered a free exchange of tickets. Um....sure!
So we moved from
section 225 row 16 to section 111 just 7 rows from the stage!
Very cool!

Updates should go up this week to the OBS website allowing registration for
the 2017 Blues Challenge to open. So keep an eye out for that!
As always you can drop me a note and let
me know what you want to see in this Newsletter. So, hit me up!

2017 International Songwriting Competition
Local artists, don't overlook this contest!  Last week Liz Lottmann shared:
"the ISC is a really good thing! I have been
in the Top 100 and Top 25 in previous years, and it really ramps up the airplay and
dividends I get each year."
As Ozark Blues Society again this year partners with the International Song Writing Competition, we are excited to be able to bring news of this opportunity to our readers.
The International Songwriting Competition organization shared the following with OBS:
"Now in its 17th year, ISC is one of the largest and most respected songwriting competitions in the world. Prizes include over $150,000 in cash and merchandise, including a $25,000 cash to the Grand Prize winner. Past winners include: Vance Joy; Gotye; Bastille; The Band Perry; Kimbra; Passenger; Kasey Chambers; Passenger; Lindsey Stirling; Kate Miller-Heidke; Gregory Porter; King Charles; Gin Wigmore; Andrew Bird; Tommy Castro; For King & Country; Omar Sosa; and more."

You have to open your mind. I like the ability to express myself in a deep way. It's the closest music to our humanity - it's like a folk music that rises up out of a culture.
