Blues News You Can Use!
Still Trying

My southern excursion is wrapping up this weekend and I will be back in NWA by the middle of next week. The temperatures in Florida for my visit have been cooler than average, but it's warm enough here that no one is complaining. Reading that some planned outdoor events back in NWA are being cancelled this weekend due to unpleasantly not spring weather, I promise to do my best to bring some nice weather back with me! My mom and I have had pleasant (though too short) visits with family at both stops...though at some point it seems like time to be heading for home.
So to balance the picture I left you with last week, its time for a sunset pic. Enjoy!
In the news this week, it is time for Cabin Fever I this Sunday, April 22nd at George's. Please consider coming out to show support for  Nightflying Magazine. This event is set to be an awesome chance for NWA music lovers. My travels will unfortunately keep me away. I would love to hear you ALL went in my place!

Harmonica Summit
The big 2018 Harmonica Summit is this SATURDAY, April 21st, Noon-Midnight, VFW Post 577, 1109 E. 6th St, Tulsa!  Bring your friends and come on down.

This year's headliners include "the Fastest Harp in the South," the incredible Charlie McCoy.  McCoy is a Country Music Hall of Famer, Grammy Award Winner, and has recorded with musicians from Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Dolly Parton to Ringo Starr, Leon Russell and Roy Clark, just to name a few.  Another Nashville harmonica virtuoso, Tim Gonzalez, will also showcase his talents here in Tulsa.  This year's gumbo of harp players includes Johnny Sansone from New Orleans, who recently received the Best of the Beat Award from Offbeat Magazine for Best Instrumenalist (harmonica).  Rounding out the slate of national harp players is Bob Corritore from Phoenix.  Originally from Chicago, Bob spent 4 years in Tulsa attending TU and playing the Tulsa scene with the likes of Bill Davis, Jimmy Markham, Terry Stevenson and more.  Corritore will be joined by guitarist extraordinaire Bob Margolin for an unforgettable set of Chicago Blues.  The House Band for the evening will be Jimmy Markham and the Caretakers.

Workshops will start at noon with FREE harmonicas for kids and the young at heart.  There will also be vendors and the opportunity to jam throughout the day.  Doors open for the evening show at 6:30 pm, show starts at 7pm, with raffles and giveaways throughout the evening.  Food truck will be on site starting in the afternoon and into the evening, and the VFW has a full bar and is non-smoking for this event.
