 Keeshea Pratt :: BELIEVE
The Keeshea Pratt Band released their brand new album “Believe” on May 29th, 2018. The Houston based, award winning Keeshea Pratt Band possesses the skill and artistry reminiscent of old school Motown; a rarity among bands of any genre today. The 8-piece, musical collective lends its energy and passion to traditional blues, contemporary blues and offers a prevue to the future of blues. The musical artistry and dexterity of The Keeshea Pratt Band allows it to journey unapologetically across the genres of classical, jazz, Southern rock, soul, gospel, and country and back again. Keeshea Pratt is the siren featured on the microphone with soaring and soulful lead Mississippi inspired vocals. She is supported by a talented and diverse group of singers and musicians representing 5 states (Texas, California, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi) and Japan. The female Japanese trumpeter is nestled in the 3-piece horn section that produces thrilling, chorded in-sync rhythms that rival those of big bands....

Beloved Tallahassee blues club damaged by 250 year old Oak Tree
(TALLAHASSEE, FL) - The Bradfordville Blues Club suffered extensive damage on Tuesday when a large oak tree fell onto its roof, forcing the locale to cancel “upcoming shows for the foreseeable future.”Owners Gary and Kim Anton issued a statement on Facebook Tuesday afternoon following the incident. “The club is in bad shape and will need extensive repairs,” they wrote. “Until then, we regrettably must cancel all upcoming shows for the foreseeable future.”

The news comes as the weakening subtropical storm Alberto moves through the Southeast.

The treasured capital city locale is rural, “surrounded by fields of tall stalks of corn and old majestic oak trees dripping with moss,” according to the Blues Club’s website. Located at 7152 Moses Lane in Tallahassee, online directions to the club state: “Just follow the tiki torches down the dirt roads till you reach the juke joint under the stars.”

By Wendy Dwyer/YourNews Contributor
(FORT PIERCE, FL) - Eight Treasure Coast students will head off to college with a little more cash in pocket and a lot more experience in musical performance, courtesy of the volunteers and professional musicians who make up the Fort Pierce Jazz and Blues Society.

Madison Bailey, Michael Campion, Zane Chapman, Nick Lohse, Thierry Sydne, Shyan Vernon, Collin Willis, and Alex Wood were feted on Tuesday, May 22, at the Sunrise Black Box Theatre.

In addition to receiving a $1,000 scholarship, all eight students had the opportunity to perform live with the Fort Pierce Jazz and Blues Society’s Jam Band.

In fact, performing with the group was a prerequisite for receiving the scholarship.

For the students, all of whom are pursuing a career in music, the chance to perform with the same pros who played with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Johnny Mathis, Guy Lombardo, Styx, Peter Cetera, Aretha Franklin, the Drifters, Tony Bennett, and so many others, is a dream come true and a great feather in their musical performance caps moving forward.
