"Capturing the fun and free spirit of its name sake, “Corrina Shine” is the kind of song to get you through the long summer days." - Reeves Guitars
Raised In Muddy Water is the third release from the newly renamed band. |Kid Ramos returns with a new album titled Old School, on Rip Cat Records. We'll let Kid himself tell you about it: |
“A lot has happened since the last record, Greasy Kid Stuff, in 2001. Since then I've fathered two small boys into young men, beat cancer ... It's been about 17 years. I figured it was about the right time to put out a blues record. My youngest son Johnny has joined the family business. This is his singing debut, and he was only 17 at the time of the recording. I'm excited to still be playing guitar, and I'm happy that people still want to see and hear me and haven't thrown any rocks at me yet.
This album was made in two days at Big Jon Atkinson's home studio in Hayward, California. It was recorded live to tape on two tracks using all analog equipment, vintage microphones, and the brilliant technique of Jon's recording. The album includes the expert playing of Kedar Roy on bass, Marty Dodson on drums, Bob Welsh on piano/organ, Danny Michel on second guitar, the great Johnny Tucker on vocals, and the legendary Kim Wilson performing vocals on one song."

Southern California, June 2018, 6 String Showdown – Celebrate Blues Guitar!
Presenting the Summer’s Biggest Event! A head to head blues guitar competition, New Blues Festival presents 6 String Showdown.
This is not a battle of the bands. This is a head to head blues guitar competition, an authentic guitar celebration.
This summer, the Long Beach Blues Society, Orange County Blues Society, and the New Blues Festival have teamed up to present the 6 String Showdown, a series of regional guitar competitions to crown Southern California’s all-around best blues guitar player on the Main Stage of the New Blues Festival Sunday, September 2nd.
As an added incentive, the Long Beach and Orange County Societies have teamed up to offer a special 50% discount to all guitarists who sign up for either the LB or OC regionals between now and June 30. Just use the drop-down menu to choose the $50 option. Spots are filling up fast.
Judging will be based on skill, not speed. Criteria are tasty licks played with feeling, phrasing, personal expression, tone, timing, dynamics, reflection, and solos that tell a story.
Judging will be based on three criteria: Technique 30% - Showmanship 30% - Audience responses 40%

Briggs Farm Blues Festival to bring powerhouse of talent to Nescopeck
(NESCOPECK, RI) - From July 5 through 8, a lush green farm in Nescopeck will take on shades of another hue for the 21st annual Briggs Farm Blues Festival. Featuring 21 international and regional acts, the festival offers a powerhouse of talent, ranging from delta-style blues to soulful bands to the next generation of players apt to sprinkle funk into the mix. This year’s star power includes Grammy Award-winner Mike Farris, folk-blues artist Amy Helm (daughter of The Band’s famed drummer Levon Helm) and hard-driving, blues guitarist Samantha Fish, a rising star on the national scene.
Keeping with tradition, the festival also showcases Luzerne County-based musicians as well, including Teddy Young & The Aces and Ed Randazzo & Friends. Both bands have been regulars at the festival in recent years.
Since its humble debut in 1998 — then featuring only six acts on one stage — the festival consistently has grown in size and stature. It now offers camping packages in a wooded area of the 250-year-old farm, three stages,

Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise Pre-Party Oct 27
(SAN DIEGO, CA) - Join us for the October LRBC Pre-Party in San Diego on October 27 at the Wyndham Bayside Hotel (1355 No. Harbor Dr.). This annual party is also a fundraiser whose proceeds will benefit the local blues society, Blues Lovers United of San Diego.
Performing will be the inimitable Chris Cain who “offers up a soulful stew of Memphis style electric blues. His powerfully deep vocals and jazz inspired, blues guitar riffs are unforgettable; uniquely his own, while reminiscent of the legendary BB King and Albert King.”
The night will also include regional favorites, blues stalwart Bill Magee, and special guests Michele Lundeen and Anthony Cullins. Magee is one of San Diego, California's busiest working and respected blues musicians. In his earlier days Willie (Bill) Magee met, befriended and eventually joined up with Jimi Hendrix who was playing as Jimmy James. Together they formed the band "Jimmy James and the Flames" before Hendrix went off to England in 1967.
