Toronto Awards Season: 7th Annual Reggae Xclusive Awards!

The 7th annual Reggae Xclusive Awards is coming to Toronto on Saturday July 7th at the Toronto Plaza Hotel (1677 Wilson Ave – Toronto).
Featuring performances by Canadian Icon as well as Hip Hop and Reggae legend Michie Mee, Reggae legend Norris Man as well as nominees from various categories, the evening is one of the most anticipated on the Canadian Reggae calendar. The awards are designed to recognize the best Reggae and Dancehall talent in Canada. The event is produced by Performing artist and editor Donna Makeda. The evening’s hosts are Carrie Mullings, Betty Luv and DJ Cool.
The evening’s festivities begins at 8pm.

Reggae Icon Marcia Griffiths defends the authenticity of her classic song “Electric Slide” in response to allegations that the song is ‘really about a vibrator.’
Allegations surfaced online on Tuesday (June 26th) after a journalist claimed to have spoken to Bunny Wailer, the songs original writer, who was asked what the song was ‘really about.’ The writer asked the Reggae legend if the song was about a personal pleasure toy for women, to which Bunny reportedly replied, ‘are you just figuring that out?’

Roots Reggae Singer, Likkle Lightning, Now In Jamaica Promoting His Recently Released Collaboration With Turbulence

 Earlier this year, roots reggae artist Likkle Lightning, who is based in the United States, recorded and released a collaboration with established reggae artist Turbulence. The song is a remix of his single “Early Morning Flash,” which is featured on his album, Conditions of Life. Since its release, “Early Morning Flash (Remix)” has been getting good support from both radio and club DJs. That being said, Likkle Lightning is now on the island and is making himself available for interviews and shows, all in an effort to shed more light on the record. Persons wanting to work with, or interview Likkle Lightning while he is in Jamaica, are being asked to contact Maria Jackson via email.
