Summer's Sweetness
Possibly because I was born in a tropical climate, summer delights me, even in 90+ NYC temperatures like today!
 
Prioritizing pleasure helps. Spending a day on the breezy NYC Ferry, past DUMBO and South Street Seaport to Rockaway Beach, then cruising home with the sunset, certainly helps! The NYC Ferry has multiple routes, a $2.75 fare, free transfers between Ferry lines, all accessible on their easy downloadable app, and many well-run piers.
 
But wherever you live or wherever you are, you have resources for pleasure and fun. Dancing with friends. Movies and plays with friends. Contributing volunteer time. Whirring through streets on a bike is a fave of mine, even in the steam and humidity; it is still breezier and freer than crowded transit vehicles. 
 
Lying under a tree even if it's a little city park tree! Cooking for yourself. Cooking for others. Dining with friends. Strolling. Sleeping in.
 

Reading. Yoga'ing. Meditating. People watching. 
 
Art museums and galleries.
 
Listening to music.

Maximizing pleasure through recognition, ownership, and meeting of our important needs is a theme underlying my Restorative and Yoga Nidra teaching, whether students are consciously aware of it or not. 
 
Svadhyaya, self-study or sacred-study, is a Sanksrit word for what often equates to a deep knowing and a deeper loving of ourselves. 
 
We access the powerful tools of Restorative Yoga, meeting the students where they are literally through props, and calming all five senses, then the nervous system.
 
We do this also in the profound practice of soothing, guided, Yoga Nidra meditation, an ancient mystery wrapped in a modern science for empowering our living potential. The training simply, clearly, demystifies this layered practice, in an ABC style that any pupil can learn and apply right away, for themselves and for others.
 
These Restorative and Yoga Nidra Teacher Trainings welcome both teachers and students, of yoga and other healing arts.
 
The 2018 Restorative Training is nearing its last of 4 Levels this Sept 8-9. The 2019 dates are not announced yet.
 
If you have prior Restorative teaching experience or trainings, you may email me about joining Level 4 this year. Otherwise, stay on my ENews to get first word when 2019 dates for the 100-Hour training are announced.

The 2018 Yoga Nidra weekend training is Sept 22-23, coming up: my 59th birthday weekend!

Deliciousness is fermenting your own probiotic yogurt kefir at home. It's so much easier than I'd have imagined, with way more healthy probiotics than store bought ~ and much less costly! Poured over fruit, mixed in smoothies, or drink by itself ~ yummy! Try it yourself!
 

 
After trying several milks including dairy, almond, rice, and coconut, my favorite homemade kefir is soy - as creamy as pudding! And my son's favorite is whole dairy milk. 
 
It's one tip I've enjoyed from Dr. Christiane Northrup's book Making Life Easy, a favorite author!
 
This joins now my happy drinking habits that include my Vitamix blender, that whips up smoothies with fruits, veggies, protein powder, essential oils! Yum!
