October 2018  *  Mary Yoga ENews  *  Issue #154
Dream a Little Dream * 2019 reSOULutions retreat
Divine Play Festival
October saw the 9th Divine Play AcroYoga Festival in Portland, OR. I remember well the 1st one in 2009! The practice has flourished worldwide, and festivals now abound everywhere. We work to keep the love, play, yoga, within the AcroYoga. Look forward to see you in a festival in the near future, all around the planet!
Fresh Journeys
I have been writing these ENews monthly since 2006. It seems to me the writing is truly for my sake. My yoga path is for my sake. My teaching path is for my sake. But since teacher and student are really all one, my walk is for all of our sakes. And, so is yours.

Tomorrow I embark on my roots journey to China for the first time in my life. With my husband, we will meet relatives I've only "met" in letters. I will stutteringly speak my native Chinese tongue. I will introduce my Eurasian-American husband to China, and myself too, as we walk my ancestral homeland for the first time.

This fall, our son, God willing will graduate college and face the big world before him. A birth for us as well as for him.

Then with New Year, I co-lead reSOULutions Retreat with a fabulous team and a diverse crop of shining souls on a beach in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where all these paradise pictures are drawn from.

I am thrillingly aware of unknown elements in all of these journeys. I breathe and pray to be open, and take in the gifts. Thank you for walking with me on my journey.
Two Kinds of Confidence
Barbara de Angelis is one of ten writer/speakers I am  enjoying tremendously in an audio collection called "The Bodhi Talks Vol. 2" that I hear through Apple Music, but that is also available on Amazon as MP3 or CD, for $8.99.

Dr. de Angelis reminds us that when we say "I don't have the confidence" for something, we really mean "I don’t have the confidence it will turn out how I hope or want."

Of course we don’t, says she. How could we be confident of totally unknown factors? When we imagine we need that illusory confidence to proceed, we stop. We sigh and wish, but don't do. We stagnate, and say, "I don't have the confidence."

But we don't need that illusory confidence, says Dr. de Angelis. What we do need and can have is the confidence that we can take the steps to go forward and do "it," the thing. To do it poorly perhaps, but less poorly each time. We can be confident of our ability to do that - to take those steps - if we are willing. That is a confidence we can have.

Yes, and doing so we face some of our favorite "stuff": rejection, pride, fear, shame, envy, ego.

Deep breath in. Deep breath out. Enjoy your twists and turns. Enjoy your smiles and sweat, and your kind, loving laughs with, and for yourself. Enjoy your yoga path!
