Love Newly Born
In December, when the world erupts with celebrations of feasting, selling and merry-making, I love reading the Christmas letter from Brother Chidananda at SRF, inspired by the late Paramahansa Yogananda, my spiritual guru.

Paramahansa Yogananda taught that when we allow our wisdom (our magi) to seek out prayer and meditation (the guiding star, via Ajna, 6th chakra) we eventually arrive at our own humbled heart (the manger) where we may experience Love being born anew.

This, he would say, is the meaning of Christmas. Christ Consciousness, Kutastha Chaitanya, born in us, available every morning, as on Christmas morning . . . if we will look for that present.

"Paramahansaji urged us to take time to meditate longer and deeper in this holy season. In the sacred silence of the wall-less temple within your soul, God will come to you as joy, peace, and boundless love, and with the touch of His all-inclusive consciousness, you will feel the barriers of separation dissolve, revealing your eternal bond with Him and with other souls. Each soul even slightly illumined by that inner awakening automatically contributes to a more harmonious world." ~ Brother Chidandanda

We could all use that as we move together into the New Year, couldn't we? Take time to rest. Breathe. Receive. Listen.

"May you have a very merry Christmas, and may you receive the greatest gift that anyone can wish for you - the perception of the Christ spirit in your own heart. May you feel his presence on Christmas Day and every day throughout the new year. Open your heart to receive the wonderful gift of Light."
~ Paramahansa Yogananda
