Colin James :: MILES TO GO
With his 19th album, Miles to Go, acclaimed guitarist Colin James is getting back to the blues.

Miles to Go is Colin James’ ambitious sequel to his critically-acclaimed 2016 CD, Blue Highways, and it continues James’ story with a collection of carefully curated songs handpicked from some of the greatest blues artists.

In the months leading up to the recording, as James was reflecting on songs for the album, he decided to reacquaint himself with a beautiful red Gibson ES-335. It was just like the guitar he played as a teenager, but regretfully had to sell for rent money.

While James reconnected with this guitar, Miles to Go seemed to just flow onto the studio floor.

This album blends songs old and new, some of them completely re-imagined and some almost perfect homages. But all are unified by a theme of undying love for the blues and the highest respect for the creators that led the way.
Known as one of Canada’s best blues musicians, it wasn’t until Blue Highways that James found himself on a blues chart: the album spent 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Roots Music Report’s Blues Chart.

New England Winter Blues Tour Feb 11
(ROCKLAND, ME) – Live blues returns to the Midcoast Monday night, Feb 11, and how. The New England Winter Blues Tour, featuring a bunch of Blues fest faves, will play a 7-10pm show in the upstairs music room of Time Out Pub, 275 Main St., Rockland, Maine. Admission will be $25 at the door, which opens at 6pm.

The tour includes Sugar Ray & The Bluetones featuring Charlie Baty; Rick Estrin; Nick Moss and Joe Moss; Jason Ricci; Jerry Portnoy; and Nick “Mr. Nick” David, the heavily sought-after blues shouter and unorthodox harmonica ace who produces and hosts the show.

Sugar Ray & The Bluetones have been playing their distinctive style of blues for almost 40 years the world over — and all over the genre map, too. Chicago blues, Kansas City swing, Texas blues and Louisiana swamp are all on the dance card. Band leader “Sugar” Ray Norcia on vocals and harmonica; guitarist “Little” Charlie Baty; Anthony Geraci on piano and Hammond organ; Michael "Mudcat" Ward on acoustic and electric bass; and drummer Neil Gouvin have all been featured on other artists’ recordings.

A Foundation for Michael and family
(KANSAS CITY, MO) - The LRBC staff, musicians, cruiser family and the entire Blues World is in mourning right now with Mike Ledbetter’s untimely and early death. Michael leaves his partner in life Kathy and mother of their 2 young children, Holland age 4 and Michael Jr. who turns just 1 year old on Jan 27th.

Danielle Nicole is working with a Family Attorney to set up a Foundation for Michael Ledbetter’s Family and the Families blessings. Go Fund Me takes a big chunk, as does PayPal. LRBC will be asking and taking money donations for the next Ledbetter generation on the Feb cruise as they dedicate it to the Amazing Michael Ledbetter.

If you are not sailing, you may also send a check to the LRBC office: Michael D. Ledbetter Foundation c/o Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise, 313 Lawrence St., Kansas City, MO. 64111.
