light cooked soups, tea's, an abundance of  juices, smoothies & healthy pure water.
Can give the digestive system a much-needed boost and possibly
lead to better eating habits after the detox is completed.
Come learn some delicious recipes to help you Detox and still feel satisfied.

Why do our bodies need a detox?

Every day, we are exposed to harmful toxins both from internal and external environments. Over time, these toxins build up and affect our health by creating inflammation, a build up of free radicals and acidity in the body. All these combined factors prematurely age the body and trigger illnesses.

How can you tell you need a detox?

Symptoms of excessive toxin build-up include frequent headaches, digestive problems, multiple allergies, sluggish metabolism, skin problems, chronic fatigue and difficulties in losing or gaining weight.

What can a detox achieve?

Hormonal balance, effective digestive system weight management, healthy skin, a strong immune system and overall optimal health are some of the benefits you can reap from detoxifying your body.

A balanced Detox Diet:

  • Choose organic foods which are not contaminated with chemicals
  • Choose high fibre foods e.g. oats, seeds, nuts, whole grains and cereals
  • Avoid saturated fats, trans-fats and sugars.
  • Drink plenty of purified water
  • Increase intake of vegetables, fruits, herbs and spices
  • Choose protein from plant sources such as lentils, beans and peas
  • Choose whole foods as a source of quality carbohydrate i.e. whole grain, brown rice, quinoa etc.
  • Consume herbal teas
  • Consume super foods e.g. spirulina, wheat grass, barley grass and chlorella

– Snack carefully – eat nuts and seeds soaked overnight for magnesium intake.
– Add nourishing and colorful ingredients to your diet, freshly prepared vegetables with greens, legumes or brown rice.

– Drink two liters of filtered water (with lemon, chia seeds, turmeric, ginger, or grapefruit) or herbal tea every day.

RECIPES
DETOX CHARCOAL LATTE

HEALTH BENEFITS  DETOX CHARCOAL LATTE.

Activated charcoal has the ability to absorb toxins. Each particle has tons of small pores that can bind to toxins and usher them out of the body. It can help prevent a hangover, relieve digestion upsets like gas and bloating, and help out bodies detox.
Since it can indeed soak up substances in the body, avoid taking any pills or vitamins within a 2 hour window of consuming charcoal. Otherwise, your charcoal will absorb your pills and miss the toxins you want removed. I usually have this latte first thing on an empty stomach, and then a few hours later when my stomach lets me know it is time for breakfast, I have a solid meal and take my vitamins.
In case you are wondering where you can get yourself some of this black powder, I either pick up my activated charcoal from a local health food store or I order it on Amazon. Just make sure that it is food grade charcoal you are adding to your cart. You can choose to purchase charcoal in pill form or powder form, and each has its benefits. The pills are great to have on hand for when you have a stomach ache, and you can just snip the pills to use the charcoal powder for this recipe. The powder is great for using in beauty recipes and a bit easier to measure out for your Detox Charcoal Latte. Whatever you choose, the powder is yours.
