Photo Moments with the 16th Annual BFG Magazine
Here's your BFG e-guide Editor Michele Lundeen snapping a selfie with young, talented Hardy Lin, an exchange student from Taiwan, who, in just 9 mos discovered and got completely immersed in the blues community thanks to his host "mom," avid blues fan Barbara Kabes. Hardy, a fledgling drummer, attended blues jams almost every week, helped run sound for the Spring Harp Fest (which is coming to La Mesa, CA April 20th), and even experienced the excitement plus the historical significance of the Delta during the 2018 IBC in Memphis, TN.

Delta Moon :: BABYLON IS FALLING
"What Atlanta’s Delta Moon plays is the ultimate essence of American music. If a sample had to be sent to intergalactic civilizations, it would not be necessary to make a compilation — just the latest album from this band, Babylon is Falling." — Ondřej Bezr, Lidovky (Czech Republic)

Atlanta swamped rock and blues quartet Delta Moon returns with their tenth studio album Babylon is Falling. The titans of tone deliver a set of infectious grooves faced with a double-barreled shot of greasy bottleneck slide guitar and lap steel, along with thought-provoking lyrics on a set of tunes that range from Delta blues to gospel, soul and Southern rock that Vintage Guitar magazine declares, “Delta Moon is deep blues with a fury.” The album of five new original tracks and six inspired covers was recorded it Diamond Street Studio, Marlon Patton’s house, and Vick Stafford Studio and mixed by Jeff Bakos, one of the top amplifier techs and independent recording engineers in the Southeast.

Austin City Limit’s 2019 Hall Of Fame to Induct Buddy Guy
(AUSTIN, TX) - Austin City Limits (ACL) Hall of Fame will welcome the unstoppable Buddy Guy, Louisiana native and world-known blues musician. Joining Buddy Guy in the induction will be singer and songwriting legends Lyle Lovett and Shawn Colvin. The inductees will be saluted at a star-studded ceremony on October 24, 2019. The ceremony will take place at ACL’s studio home, ACL Live at The Moody Theater, in downtown Austin, Texas.

Living legend and one of the last of his generation of blues musicians (and recent GRAMMY winner), Buddy Guy is undeniably a perfect addition to ACL’s Hall of Fame. The singer and guitarist is one of the most influential axemen of the twentieth century, impacting Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Keith Richards and more. Starting his career 50 years ago, Buddy Guy’s astonishing career highlights include the 2015 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, eight Grammy Awards, thirty-seven Blues Music Awards, twenty-three W.C. Handy Awards, the Kennedy Center Honor, Billboard Music Awards; Century Award, Presidential National Medal of Arts, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. ... Bukka White's famous vintage guitar sold at UK auction
(UK) - A guitar once owner by legendary Blues musician Bukka White has fetched £93,000 [$123,623.32 USD] at auction.

The 1933 National Duolian resonator guitar, known as "Hard Rock", was used by him for over 30 years. Booker T Washington "Bukka" White is considered to be a pioneer of Delta Blues slide guitar.

The instrument was given to a UK-based photographer in 1976, and has been played by musicians including Mark Knopfler [pictured], Bill Wyman and Dave Stewart. It sold for a fee of £93,000 [$123,623.32 USD], including buyer's fees, at Gardiner Houlgate auctioneers in Corsham, Wiltshire.

Auctioneer Luke Hobbs said Bukka White was a founding father of the Delta Blues and an influential, definitive player of the genre. "He and Son House really created this genre of music, the Blues slide playing," he said. He added that the guitar's seller, Keith Perry, felt that the time was right to "move it on" and "let it see the next part of its journey". ...Find more about this
Save the ARC, the largest popular music library in the United States
(NEW YORK CITY, NY) - New York City's ARChive of Contemporary Music (ARC) is a cultural treasure packed with actual treasures. Inside the walls of this not-for-profit private research library in TriBeCa are 3 million physical audio recordings, many on vinyl records. The ARC's founder, Bob George, is also a cultural treasure – warm, obsessive, kind, committed, and a walking encyclopedia of popular music – from obscure folk to the avant-garde. In recent years, Bob's been working closely with the Internet Archive to digitize many of the ARC's scarce 78s for broader access and, yes, preservation. Bob launched ARC in 1985 when his own record collection outgrew his apartment. Now the ARC needs help. They've launched a GoFundMe to raise $100,000 to keep the ARC alive.

From Rolling Stone: “Far from the kind of crackpot hoarding that sometimes happens in cities, George’s archive has been supported by powerhouses in music and entertainment. It houses Keith Richards’ blues collection. Their current board is varied enough to include both Youssou N’Dour and Paul Simon (Lou Reed and David Bowie were both once members). ...Find more about ARC and how you might help
