Eric Bibb :: GLOBAL GRIOT
Global Griot, the 2-disc set from Eric Bibb on Stony Plains records, features special guest appearances by World Music star Habib Koité, with whom Eric recorded the acclaimed Brothers in Bamako album in 2012, as well as acclaimed West African musician Solo Cissokho, a master of the kora, the 22-stringed harp creating cascades of notes and beautifully-addictive grooves. Eric’s long-time friend and music compadre Harrison Kennedy is also a special guest.

“‘Global Griot’ – two words that describe many of my friends and myself, as well,” says Eric Bibb about his new album. “Connecting to the West African tradition of storytelling and oral history through music, this album features brothers and sisters from around the globe – serving the listener a tasty gumbo, spiced with hope for these challenging times.”

On Global Griot, the masterful Eric Bibb adapts the West African historian and oral storyteller tradition with his own background of blues, folk and world music for a scintillating blend of sound that is absolutely mesmerizing. Bibb also pulls no punches with his songs that tackle our current state of affairs in the world, with socio/political commentary on everything from our desire for conspicuous consumption...  ...Find more about this artist and release

Big Al & The Heavyweights :: WORLD FULL OF TROUBLE
World Full Of Trouble is Big Al & The Heavyweights’ 7th CD of original Louisiana roots music. It reflects their love of so many musical styles from blues to rock, zydeco to jazz and even country. Big Al says, “this CD is truly one of my favorites because I finally have a cd that features my long-time friend, harmonica virtuoso and ex-Heavyweight band member (two times in fact), Jason Ricci on several tracks (“Bayou Life,” “Millionaire Baby,” “Mother Trucker,” and “Crazy About You Baby”). Jason and I always wanted to have a recording together, now it's here. I'm also a huge Muddy Waters fan and we are blessed to have legendary, long-time Muddy Waters guitarist, Bob Margolin on “World Full of Trouble” and “Love So Fine.”

Louisiana Music Hall of Fame member, long-time Heavyweight and co-writer on these tracks, Wayne Lohr, is an excellent keyboard player and immensely soulful vocalist. Destin Thibodaux, who was one Jason's students was also instrumental in making this happen. He's an excellent arranger, harmonica player and played bass on “Crazy About You Baby.” ...Find more about this artist and release

Young Guns & Legendary Kings: A Tribute to Blues Guitar Greats at Gator By The Bay
By Wendy Lemlin
(SAN DIEGO, CA) - Among all the great musical performances every year at Gator By the Bay, some of our most favorite have involved mashups of individual musicians playing a set together, often based on a particular theme. This year, one of the most anticipated of these is called “Young Guns’ Tribute to the Three Kings” and it will feature three of the San Diego area’s hottest young blues guitar prodigies — Anthony Cullins, Benji Davis, and Chase Walker — playing the songs of B.B. King, Freddie King, and Albert King. This is going to be a HOT one, ladies and gentlemen!

Seventeen-year-old Anthony Cullins, aka "The Fallbrook Kid," got his first guitar when he was three years old, and began taking lessons when he was nine. He took first place at the Dallas International Guitar Show's "Young Guns" showcase in 2018, was selected as "Best Youth Original" at the 2016 Temecula Valley Music Awards, and the accolades just keep coming. This month he was accepted to the Berklee College of Music. “I am really looking forward to playing the Three Kings Tribute at Gator by The Bay 2019,” Anthony enthuses.
