Vin Mott :: ROGUE HUNTER
One definition of passion is when you put more energy into something than is required. It is more than just enthusiasm or excitement; passion is ambition that is materialized into action, putting as much heart, mind, body and soul into something as is possible. New Jersey bluesman Vin Mott is an artist who should be judged on those terms. His sophomore album, Rogue Hunter, demonstrates his burning love of Chicago, Memphis, Texas, and New Orleans’ traditions of the blues together with an intensive study of harmonica performance and his songwriting skills achieved while attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston. The dozen original tracks (composed and arranged by Mott), recorded live off the floor, showcase his tight working band of Dean Shot on guitar, Steve “Pretty Boy” Kirsty on bass and drummer Matt Niedbalski at their fighting weight, ready to rumble.

The set opens with a hot blast of blues harp from Mott setting up the groove outlining his personal mantra “Car Troubles Made Me A Good Blues Singer.” ...Find more about this artist and release

International Blues Challenge Winner Jon Shain Signs with Blue Mountain Artists
This year’s International Blues Challenge winner in the duo/solo category, Jon Shain, is a musicians’ musician.  A talented blues guitarist, an accomplished songwriter, a brilliant teacher, and a sought-after producer. Jon brings a special energy to all he touches and easily garners fans with his undoubtable talent, quick wit, and ready smile.

“Winning the Blues Challenge was crazy, I still can’t believe it happened,” said Shain. “I made it to the finals in 2008 with FJ Ventre and wasn’t sure I would go again.  When you are competing with 160 of the best blues performers from around the world it is just humbling to be on the same stage. I am so grateful for the experience.”

Recently signing with longtime friend Hugh Southard of the prestigious Blue Mountain Artists, Shain has joined a roster of some of the most accomplished performers of roots music on tour today and has a slate of high-profile festival dates ahead of him this year.

Jon Shain is a veteran singer-songwriter who’s been turning heads for years with his words, his fiery acoustic guitar work, and his evolved musical style...

Jack Dappa Blues Radio
Jack Dappa Blues Heritage Preservation Foundation 501c3 was founded in 2011, and officially became a private foundation with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code on December 14th, 2016. Founder and Executive Director Lamont Jack Pearley and co-founder Denise Pearley felt the urgency to raise cultural and ethnic awareness of African American Traditional music and the Black Experience in America.

As a Bluesman and Applied Folklorist, Lamont Jack Pearley began using the methods of ethnography, genealogy, and archival research - in essence the tools of the folklorist - to more thoroughly trace his family’s lineage. Inspired by his discoveries, he began interviewing people outside of his family who had similar stories, including African American Blues musicians who played various forms of traditional blues. Over the last 12 years, Lamont Jack’s work documenting African American vernacular narratives, musics, and cultures resulted in an extensive collection of field interviews with historians, documentarians, blues and folk musicians, and the children of Black music legends. This body of work earned him an induction into the New York Blues Hall of Fame as Great Blues Historian and TV/Radio Producer (2017) and Great Blues Artist (2018).

Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Delbert McClinton and Ruthie Foster to Headline 34th King Biscuit Blues Festival
By Don Wilcock
(HELENA, AR) – A veritable Who’s Who of icons, legends, today’s hot finds, and tomorrow’s trend setters Wednesday, October 9 through Saturday,
October 12.

Four days of bliss on the banks of the Mississippi in historic Helena, Arkansas, will see more than 100 performers ranging from legacy icons to tomorrow’s stars on six stages, taking fans from around the world on a journey that brings the legacy of America’s music to life. The blues were born in Helena’s fertile delta mud, and the festival is built on a heritage that dates back 78 years. Live blues radio started here with Sonny Boy Williamson II and the King Biscuit Boys on KFFA’s King Biscuit Time radio show in 1941. And the threads of that legacy are woven through this year’s lineup.

“Time stands still. It really does.” Delbert McClinton, Friday night’s headliner at the 34th annual King Biscuit Blues Festival, describes that moment in a performance where the artist and the fans become one. And the rest of the world disappears.
