Here's our longtime, good friend and BFG Sales Director Cheryl O'Grady-Yearnshaw celebrating the arrival of the 2019 Blues Festival Guide magazine with a bottle of "Buddy Brew” (and a couple of blues fans). Buddy Brew is Buddy Guy’s beer and the label states: “The Damn Right Beer!”
Cheryl says, "Thanks to all of our advertisers, our amazing authors and photographers, our distributors and our wonderful staff who made this possible. See ya at the BMA’s!"

Mitch Woods :: A TIP OF THE HAT TO FATS
Exuberant new album from jump-swing piano torchbearer Mitch Woods captures the sound, soul and spirit of New Orleans. Recorded live at the Crescent City’s famed Jazz & Heritage Festival, A Tip of the Hat to Fats showcases the masterful pianist and entertainer in his element — onstage and in command of a wealth of styles, from jump swing to blues, boogie-woogie to primal rock ’n’ roll.
Mitch Woods’ new album is far more than a tribute to the late rock ’n’ roll granddaddy Fats Domino. With a wide embrace of styles, high-flying performances, and a song list that also includes Professor Longhair, Wynonie Harris, Jackie Brenston and Woods himself, these nine tunes — each with a buoyant introduction by the singer, pianist and bandleader — perfectly spotlight his upbeat virtuosity. The album was released by Blind Pig Records via The Orchard on April 19, 2019.
“I’m an entertainer, and there’s nowhere I’d rather be than at a festival playing and singing the music I love and making people happy,” Woods relates. “Onstage is where I flourish.

King Bee & The Stingers :: MEET ME IN MEMPHIS
Meet Me In Memphis, the debut album by King Bee & The Stingers, plants its roots firmly in that city's fertile musical soil but stretches across the blues landscape and beyond. From Chicago to the north, Muscle Shoals to the south, and even across the pond for some vintage British guitar finery, the songs spin tales of love, obsession, regret, redemption and more. "We started playing these songs in the spring of 2018 and started recording them shortly thereafter," explains harmonica player/singer and band founder Mark 'King Bee' Menefee. "Then we played a lot of gigs over the summer, the songs changed, got better so we went back and rerecorded them."
Menefee formed the band in 2007, but it wasn't until his daughter, Sarah, came on board as lead singer in 2014 that the group began to come into their own. They steamrolled to the semi-finals of the International Blues Challenge in 2018 and 2019, gaining fans from around the globe for their expansive take on the blues. ...Find more about this artist and release

Take a European Blues Cruise from France
(MARSEILLE, FR) - The particularity of European Blues Cruise is the meeting between tourism and blues. Indeed, we cover destinations all around the Mediterranean basin rocked by melodies of its own. From Sept 30-Oct 4, sail from Marseille, France, to Ibiza (a Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea off the eastern coast of Spain), Barcelona, Spain, and Genoa, Italy and back to Marseille. The cruise includes: Blues concerts on board + private sessions + grand opening night.
Our cruise is organized by the association Blues in Marseille, which aims to promote the blues in the city through various concerts. Through this festival of blues at sea, we highlight the city of Marseille, its tourist attractions and its cruise port.
Our event is organized thanks to partnerships with the travel agency Marseillaise Voyages Byblos and various cruise lines.
Since its creation in 2014, we offer new routes and artistic programs of quality to combine holidays and musical passion.
