Eric Jerardi :: OCCUPIED
Occupied, the latest album from Dayton-based soul-blues singer/guitarist Eric Jerardi, teams him up with legendary producer David Z (Prince, Fine Young Cannibals, Johnny Lang, Etta James) and the iconic Muscle Shoals rhythm section to create a musical tour-de-force delivering heartfelt performances with the added soul of the Muscle Shoals horns.

Jerardi’s trademark soulful vocals and bluesy guitar sounds literally drip throughout the new album, showcasing all original songs, with the exception of “Don’t Take It Personally,” written by Jerry Lynn Williams (who wrote “Givin’ It Up for Your Love”) and Jeff Healey. Besides Eric Jerardi on vocals and guitar, the sessions recorded at Nutthouse Recording Studio in Sheffield, Alabama, feature David Hood (bass); Clayton Ivey (electric piano/organ); Milton Sledge (drums); Kelvin Holly (rhythm guitar); Charles Rose (trombone); Steve Herman (trumpet); Doug Moffet (saxophone); and Marie Lewey and Cindy Walker (backing vocals).

“I’ve put in a lot of hard work over the years, and this record is a reflection of my dedication to my craft,” Eric Jerardi says. “Thanks to my team and everyone at Muscle Shoals for making my best record yet."

August is John Lee Hooker Month at the Delta Blues Museum
(CLARKSDALE, MS) - The month of August is just a couple of weeks away, and August is John Lee Hooker Month at the Delta Blues Museum here in Clarksdale, Mississippi!

Whatever your expectation about the blues, John Lee Hooker first denied it and then surpassed it. He was born on August 22 out near Vance, MS, probably in 1917. He left home when he was quite young to begin a remarkable journey where he never stopped playing the blues his entire life long. When he departed this earth, he was a man of substance beloved and honored by his family, fellow musicians, many, many friends and music lovers the whole world round. Each August, the Delta Blues Museum highlights his career as a blues hero who was renowned as the Healer.

In honor of John Lee Hooker, the Delta Blues Museum showcases several of John Lee Hooker’s guitars, including “Old Blondie," one of his iconic hats, several of his 78 recordings and photographs of the man throughout his career.  A few of the events we have planned are: ...Find event list and more here

Young Man with an Old Soul, Matty T Wall
The electrifying guitar of Matty T Wall extends from his native Australia to the world. With the release of his latest collection, Sidewinder, Matty has written a new chapter in the musical narrative, revealing the power of his expanding artistry through guitar, voice, band and songs.

A young man with an old soul, Matty is connected to music with a wealth of history as he distills a diversity of genres into his own blues-influenced soul, jazz and rock signature.

His points of references are wide; he has studied and played a spectrum of styles including flamenco, swing jazz and funk, and he attests to a love for “heavier things” in his youth, bands like Metallica and Pantera among them. But he remembers how the musicians he admired would honor the blues masters who came before them. And following the trail of Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan backwards, he was hooked. “I discovered Robert Johnson and he made the hair on the back of my neck stand up,” he remembers. “I got into the blues and have never gotten out of it.”

Kids Have Fun Experience at Blues Hall of Fame Museum
(MEMPHIS, TN) - In June the Blues Hall of Fame Museum hosted 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students from Rozelle Elementary School in Memphis. The students have been learning about different musical genres and were eager to learn more about the Blues.

Prior to their museum visit, the students even wrote their own blues songs which some shared.

The students were given a guided tour through the museum by one of the HOF esteemed docents, Ken Billings. Young visitors enjoyed story time as BF President Barbara Newman read a children's book carried in the museum gift shop, Frankie Finds The Blues, written by Joel Harper and with illustrations by Gary Kelley.

To round out their museum experience, each student colored different pages of musical instruments. These works of art will be on display in the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise Gallery to show visiting guests the talents of young blues fans.
