Help Me Out....Please
Before you get worried, I am not needing help with the multitude of tasks I have buried myself with of late. (The main one being the "R" word...aka "remodel".)
What I would appreciate your help with is to fill in the gaps my overload has created by filling my spot at all the awesome live music events in the area. I am convinced I will get beyond his overload and be able to enjoy again, but every week of late as I review the calendar listing and see many of my favorite bands and musicians performing at many of my favorite venues...well it has become discouraging to me. So, how about you go in my place and love on these artists for me? Your help would warm my heart. Thanks!
Beyond my conflicts, the weather has turned for the positive and we are most definitely into patio weather at this point. Additionally, the Walmart AMP is hosting music to satisfy music lovers of all types. So be sure and check out the calendar this week. Be sure and look ahead to next Friday Happy Hour at George's as OBS's two time Blues Challenge winner Tony Redman will be cranking out his
down and dirty blues!
Feel I am missing an event? Just click the link below to email Sandy.

And always remember, this is YOUR newsletter! Please send feedback or suggestions our way. You can reach me by email at the address below. We LOVE our readers and want to see
your ideas included!

Ever Wondered?
The Ins and Outs of Music Licensing
This week Liz Lottmann shares a link to sent to her by Bree Noble (bree@femusician.com), as part of Bree's Female Musicians Network (though it applies to ALL musicians.)
Use this link for access to the entire article

But for those who want to get a quick head's up, Bree shares the following:

"Mark Twain said, 'The secret to getting ahead is getting started.'
How easy is that, right?
Well, for some, just getting started can be a hurdle. It’s easy to dream, but not as easy to take action… especially when you’re not sure what to do.
That’s where the 4 Steps to Licensing Success come in. These 4 steps, created by my friend Michael Elsner who's landed over 2,200 licensing placements, lay out the path that will allow you to
This is a proven system… it’s not only allowed Michael to generate over 2,200 placements of his own music, but he's seen many other artists and musicians just like you apply these 4 Steps with incredible results.
If you’ve been wanting to get your music on TV Shows, Films and Commercials, but haven’t been sure of HOW to walk down this road, you NEED to check out this video.
This is the 2nd video in a free 3-part series. If you missed the 1st video, be sure to watch that first (click on video 1 on the page once you get access).
The 1st video addresses burning questions I get all the time like 'how does publishing work' and 'what is the best way to connect with supervisors and licensing decision-makers'.
You know I hate fluff...
There's NOTHING fluffy about this training. You'll get real knowledge, light bulb moments and tangible steps you can start applying right away.
Michael isn't some flashy Nashville persona...he's genuine and authentic and his greatest desire is to help YOU with this training series.
Michael has a refreshingly different & honest take on this subject (I've attended a LOT of licensing training over the years so that's a ringing endorsement).
In Case You Missed It
If, like me, you didn't happen to catch the July 5th edition of "In Sight" by the Washington Post, you may want to check out the link below shared again by our president Liz Lottmann.  The WaPo article brings attention to a new book by photographer Timothy Duffy, who is attempting to bring recognition to a group of people who have labored in the shadows.
His new book, “Blue Muse,” published recently
by the University of North Carolina Press
in association with the New Orleans
Museum of Art highlights blues/roots music history. The photography is grippingly real. Check out the link for a chance to view his work:  Washington Post Article
