DLI NEWSLETTER JANUARY 2020
A 2020 MESSAGE FROM OUR DLI CHAIRPERSON
Dear DLI Members

I’d like to wish you all the very best for an interesting and creative year ahead. The recent 10 day Performer/Artist Challenge on Social Media was fun! Browsing through photos of past productions certainly refreshed my memory of great shows and amazing people I have met through my association with amateur drama. I’m afraid though after seeing what some of you posted I won’t be able to look at some of you the same way again! You know who you are!! For those of you not on Facebook, the idea was to post a photo from a memorable moment you’ve had during a performance/show to raise awareness of the Arts. It encouraged people to be active, be positive and be passionate, and certainly promoted the sense of community that is so strong in am-dram in Ireland.

Next up is the 6&6 ADCI/DLI Joint Committee AGM, on 2 Feb, where the adjudicator for this year’s ADCI/DLI All Ireland One Act Finals 4-6 December in Glor, Ennis, will be decided.

After that the DLI AGM will take place on Sunday 1 March at 1pm in the dlr Mill Theatre, Dundrum, Dublin. It’s a busy time for those on the circuit but I’d like to see all our members attend the meeting, to review the past year and plan for the year ahead in amateur drama. We need your voice! There are a few openings on the DLI Board, so if you have skills that would help (eg to help with the website, do PR, organise workshops) we’d be delighted to get your nomination.  Our National Secretary, Eugene O’Sullivan, will be in touch shortly with nomination papers, etc. eugeneosullivan@me.com.

With the election coming up it’s a good time to raise awareness of the need for financial support for amateur drama with your local politicians. It all helps!

Good luck on your creative journey to those of you heading out on the full length circuit and to those of you do not go ‘on the circuit’, we hope that DLI can support you in your endeavours to be active in your passion for drama in 2020!

Yours in drama
Joanne Keane
